Hello and welcome to another edition of Seanomaniac Wrestling Reviews, the only wrestling review series on the internet that continues to stumble along more than TNA! The second ever Saturday Night’s Main Event is here, Hulk Hogan defends against Nikolai Volkoff, Andre The Giant teams with Tony Atlas against King Kong Bundy and John Studd, we also have Roddy Piper vs Paul Orndorff. This sounds like a tonne of fun, let’s get it on!

(WWF World Heavyweight Championship Match) Hulk Hogan © vs Nikolai Volkoff W/ Classy Freddie Blassie

Volkoff jumps Hogan, Hogan is being battered by The Russian. Hogan meets the turnbuckle, Hogan is choked with his own shirt. Hogan fight back, Volkoff meets the turnbuckle. Corner clothesline, axe bomber from Hogan. Elbow too, headbutt to Volkoff. Boot sends Volkoff to the floor, Volkoff sends Hogan into the ringpost. Volkoff works the back of Hogan, headbutts from Volkoff. Scoop slam into a backbreaker from Volkoff, Volkoff decides to taunt instead, hard Irish whip to the corner. Stomp to the gut, Hogan counters a piledriver. Hogan eats a boot to the face, stomps to the face. Scoop slam for two, Hogan beings Hulking Up. Right hands by Hogan, Hogan dodges a splash and an Atomic Leg Drop, it’s over.

Simple fun match with Hogan being the American hero, Hogan rips up The Soviet Flag to the delight of the fans, Hogan was simply on another level when it came to popularity, you could have put a broom in there and the match would not have been boring, an easy night for both men.

Winner: Hulk Hogan over Nikolai Volkoff via Atomic Leg Drop!

Uncle Elmer vs Gentlemen Jerry Valiant

Uncle Elmer is facing Jerry Valiant, Elmer has Cousin Junior and Hillbilly Jim in his corner, big night for Elmer as a wedding is fast approaching while Hillbilly Jim would just be announced as a Hall of Fame Inductee which is nice. Valiant runs into a scoop slam ad the match is over. Well, damn.

Winner: Uncle Elmer over Jerry Valiant via Scoop Slam!

Rowdy Roddy Piper vs Paul Orndorff

Piper is not too fond of Uncle Elmer before focusing on the 50,000 dollar bounty on the head of Mr. Wonderful. The two had been friends before Wrestlemania, things would turn sour as Piper blamed Orndorff for the loss. Heenan is at ringside with his bounty money, Piper is motivated. It begins with a slugfest, Orndorff is winning the war. Clothesline from Piper, boot to the head from Piper. The two trade control as they bite and pummel one another, it has everything you could want from a blood feud. DDT by Piper, stomp to the face by Piper. They brawl on the floor before an axe handle and back suplex from Orndorff, Piper is begging for mercy. Eye poke from Piper, knee lift from Rowdy. Orndorff blocks a splash with his knees, crossbody with both men spilling to the floor. They continue brawling, it ends in a no-contest.

Excellent showing from both men, everything you could want from these two. They hated one another, no wrestling rooms just two men battering one another. I loved it, it’s something missing from today’s wrestling. Two tough bastards kicking one another’s asses, perfect brawl.

No Contest!

Uncle Elmer’s Marriage

Lou Albano, Andre The Giant and Even Hulk Hogan are present for the wedding, Ventura is on fire for this ceremony. Piper interrupts the ceremony, Hogan scares off Piper.

Andre The Giant/Tony Atlas vs Big John Studd/King Kong Bundy

Bundy and Studd double teamed Andre to hurt The Giant, three splashes from Bundy did the damage, Bundy and Andre begin the match. Andre grabs Bundy by the throat, big choke from Andre. Butt bumps from Andre, Atlas tags in and rocks Bundy with a headbutt. Studd has a side headlock, massive shoulder block. Headbutt from Atlas, make it three. Studd smacks down Atlas, Atlas misses the dropkick. Elbow from Studd, stomps to Atlas. Andre headbutts Studd, Bundy splashes Atlas. Andre gets the tag, Studd backs away from Andre. Clubbing blows from Andre, boot from Andre. Bundy attacks Andre illegally, Studd brawls with Atlas. Studd and Bundy double team Andre, it leads to a DQ.

Quite disappointing, seems like a waste of a match. Could have been a lot of fun, Hogan makes the save at the end of the night, that’s great stuff with the fans losing their minds once again for The Hulkster.

Winners: Andre & Atlas over Bundy & Studd via DQ!

(WWF Tag Team Championship Match) The Dream Team © W/ Luscious Johnny Valiant vs Leaping Lanny Poffo & Tony Garea

Beefcake and Valentine are your tag team champions, defeating The US Express, Poffo and Valentine begin the match. Nice wrestling sequence before Valentine scoop slams Poffo, Poffo kicks off Beefcake and Valentine. Hiptoss and dropkick for Beefcake, scoop slam by Poffo. Moonsault for two, Valentine saves Beefcake. Beefcake roughs up Poffo, tag to Valentine. Knees from Valentine, tag to Beefcake. Poffo tags Garea, hiptosses and dropkicks from Garea. Crossbody for two, right hands to Beefcake. Boot by Beefcake, tag to Valentine. Figure Four Leglock by Valentine for the win. DUD!

Winners: The Dream Team over Poffo & Garea via Figure Four!

That was the second ever Saturday Night’s Main Event, centred mostly around a wedding that was quite entertaining. Hogan and Volkoff was electric, the crowd was going absolutely bonkers, it was ridiculous. The various interviews to setup matches is great stuff, really helps the feel of the show and makes things run smoothly when all is said and done. It goes off the air with everyone drinking and dancing with the heels being dicks and the babyfaces having a good time, you cannot ask for more really, thumbs up from me. Thanks for reading and remember: There’s always another night!
