TNA Genesis 2006 Review

Image result for tna genesis 2006

Hello and welcome to another edition of Seanomaniac Wrestling Reviews, the only wrestling review series on the internet that delivers less than The Mcmahons when it comes to change! It is time for TNA’s Genesis 2006 and this is a monster of a show as Abyss looks to capture the NWA/TNA World Heavyweight Championship from Sting while Kurt Freakin’ Angle looks to make his mark on TNA by battling the undefeated Samoan Submission Machine Samoa Joe. The promo package for the show is so God damn epic, it sets the tone for this show! Will this be a hit? Let’s find out!

(Handicap Match) Serotonin vs The Voodoo Kin Mafia

The New Age Outlaws come out to battle TNA’s version of The Flock. Kaz and Matt look completely out of place while Johnny Devine looks like a beefy Shannon Moore. Large DX sucks chants, BG and Matt start. BG punches, superkick by Bentley. Serotonin stomp BG, Devine bites BG before tagging Bentley. Dropkick by Bentley for two, reverse chinlock from Bentley. BG rallies and nails a flying forearm, tag to Kip James. Kip slams everyone, atomic drops. Pedigree on Bentley, Bentley is thrown to the floor and well as Kaz. One and Only on Bentley and this match is over.

Not the best way to get your new faction over, funny looking at Road Dogg and Billy Gunn take the piss out of Michaels and Triple H while they are now all buddy buddy. Big boys throwing out their toys, but the match got the crowd excited so it seems to be fine.

Winners: The James Gang over Serotonin via One & Only!

Sonjay Dutt & Jay Lethal vs The Naturals W/ Shane Douglas

The Naturals sucks, they have always sucked and I will never ever care for them in the slightest. They tried to put these two over many times, their latest attempt is having The Naturals attack Team 3D. The Naturals jump Dutt & Lethal to begin the match, Dutt & Lethal battle back and dive onto The Naturals. Lethal and Stevens pair off, bulldog and dropkick by Lethal. Douglas saves Stevens, Lethal elbows Stevens. Headscissors out of the corner is countered by Stevens, blatant low blow.

Douglas comes in and chokes Lethal, eye rake by Douglas. Douglas stomps Lethal, tag to Stevens. Axe handles by Stevens, wishbone split by The Naturals. Stevens chokes Lethal on the middle rope following the wishbone, Douglas enters illegally without the tag. Douglas reaches out to Stevens for extra leverage. The referee catches Stevens, Lethal fights back but eats a huge knee for two. Tag to Stevens, big boot to the face. Lethal mounts another comeback, wheelbarrow suplex from Stevens for two. Stevens climbs to the top rope, diving axe handle for two.

Douglas tags in, axe handle does not connect as Lethal smashes Douglas in the ribs. Tag to Dutt, Stevens eats right hands. Leaping leg lariat and tilt-a-whirl headscissors, neckbreaker from Dutt for two. Stevens uppercuts Dutt, Dutt dodges and nails Douglas with a springboard seated senton. Stevens eats a backbreaker and flatliner combination, springboard moonsault from Dutt for two. Boot by Dutt, Shane Douglas gets involved. Stevens and Douglas nail an assisted dropkick powerbomb for the win.

Well, that finish look absolutely weak. The fans chant you fucked up at The Naturals and do I need to say much more? I truly do not care about those two boys, they just do not have the talent that their push warrants but I have to give credit on TNA for not giving up on those two. Lethal has connected with the TNA audience just like he did with ROH, it is for the best and Sonjay Dutt is a talented freak who is ignored when it comes to pushes, this is not fair.

Winners: The Naturals over Lethal & Dutt via Powerbomb!

(TNA X-Division Championship Match) Christopher Daniels © VS Chris Sabin

After vowing to move on from the X Division likes of Samoa Joe, AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels, we have Christopher Daniels as X-Division Champion. What? Yes, Daniels and Styles traded the belt with Sabin who was the newly-christened champion after dedicating himself to his craft to defeat Senshi. Fortunately, Sabin has finally found an edge as a cocky and arrogant heel. They lock-up, eye poke by Sabin who backs away from an irate Daniels. Side headlock by Daniels, Sabin escapes and slaps Daniels.

Sabin continues to frustrate Daniels, arm-wringer from Sabin. Daniels eats another eye poke, Sabin stomps all over Daniels. Hiptoss by Daniels for two,  the two trade counters before another hiptoss by Daniels. Sabin rolls out to the floor, Sabin shoots for a takedown, more flips before Daniels steps on the head of Sabin. Curb stomp by Daniels, split-legged moonsault for two. Sabin is bounced off the turnbuckle multiple times, headbutt by Daniels. Two for Daniels, Sabin elevates Daniels to the apron. Sabin dropkicks Daniels to the floor who smashes his back off the concrete.

Apron axe handle by Sabin, Sabin drops Daniels throat-first onto the guardrail. Two for Sabin, fist drop and dropkick to the back of the head by Sabin for two. Nerve hold from Sabin, Daniels fights out but Sabin maintains control. Knee across the back on the middle rope from Sabin, snapmare into a stretch from Sabin. Daniels is crotched in the tree of woe, hesitation dropkick by Sabin. Sabin grabs a chair, AJ Styles takes the chair from Sabin. Daniels dodges a hesitation dropkick and lands a crossbody to the floor. Jawbreaker in the ring, forearms by Daniels.

Running STO by Daniels, cross-armed powerbomb by Daniels for two. Uranage by Daniels, Sabin grabs the leg of Daniels to stop the BME. Sabin is on the apron, springboard DDT for two. Pop-up powerbomb by Sabin for two, Irish whip to the corner. Sabin nails a spinning sole butt, springboard ddt is countered for a Death Valley Driver by Daniels. BME connects and Daniels gets two. Angel’s Wings is blocked, dragon screw by Sabin. Yakuza Kick in the corner, Cradle Shock is reversed for a crucifix at two and a half. Low dropkick by Sabin, Argentine backbreaker is countered for a roll-up, Daniels wins. Jerry Lynn saves Daniels from an assault from Sabin.

The X Division Style always leads to a fun match, that is never a doubt when it comes to these wrestlers, their style is fun to watch and the crowd goes nuts especially during the glory years of TNA. However, this did not pay off for me when it came to story-telling in this match. Sabin has a fun character tweak with this entitled cocky douchebag but that leaves the match after the first sections where Sabin slaps Daniels. After that, is Sabin doing anything truly heelish? Grabbing a chair when he is the challenger in a title match? Was his plan to lose his championship match by DQ? You see why I have trouble with this story-telling?

Winner: Christopher Daniels over Chris Sabin via Roll-Up!

Ron Killings & Lance Hoyt vs Paparazzi Productions

Kevin Nash on commentary is gold, I will hear nothing less. So, Starr and Shelley have issues under Nash’s tutelage while Killings and Hoyt have nothing to do.  Shelley and Killings begin, Shelley steps on the hands of Killings. Killings nails a shoulder block, kick by Shelley. Lots of dancing, flatliner by Killings. Starr tags in, more dancing. Starr goes to work, stomps in the corner. Starr leapfrogs and dances, Killings nails a running powerslam. Hoyt nails a right hand, Starr is pinballed between the two.

Hoyt tags in, double hiptoss. Elbow drops for two, Shelley saves Starr. Knees by Hoyt, Starr eats a massive flapjack. Hoyt looks for his moonsault, Shelley illegally trips Hoyt, Starr nails a running dropkick to Hoyt who is in the tree of woe. Shelley tags in, Shelley and Starr take turns wrenching the knee of Hoyt who screams out in pain. Starr nails his corkscrew slingshot splash for two, more knees by Starr. Tag to Shelley, neckbreaker from Shelley. Shelley climbs to the top rope, Hoyt blocks the splash with a big boot. Hoyt clotheslines Shelley on one leg.

Tag to Killings, right hands to Starr & Shelley. Lie Detector, Starr & Shelley miscommunicate and Shelley wheel kicks Starr. Osaka street cutter by Truth for two, Starr saves Shelley. Double dropkick by Killings, Hoyt helps Killings nail  a dropkick to the groin. Killings misses a leg lariat, Starr elbows Killings to the floor. Hoyt eats a kick to the knee, heatseeker by Starr onto Killings. Shelley frogsplashes the knee, Starr shoots Shelley with the camera but Hoyt small packages Shelley for the win.

That was decent like the rest of the card, Nash is a treasure on commentary while Killings and Hoy deserve more to do on pay per view. Starr is a fun gimmick but Aries is so talented, it really is a waste to not let him rip people apart in the X Division but the feud between Shelley and Starr continues so I am looking forward to that.

Winners: Hoyt & Killings over Paparazzi Productions Via Small Package!

AJ Styles vs Christian Cage

This is a big match, Christian turned heel for no apparent reason earlier in the year which made no sense other than they needed to ensure Sting was the number one babyface in the company (More on that later folks!). So, Christian turned heel, fitting himself into a role he is all too familiar with as a cocky, arrogant ass who wants to be champion. Standing across from Christian is Mr. TNA AJ Styles, this will be fun plain and simple. Styles is in there with a huge star and Styles always rises to the occasion.

Huge lock-up to start, aggressive lock-up which sets the tone for this match. Christian takes the back, Styles switches to the back. Christian slams Styles to the mat, Christian maintains control before Styles goes to the ropes. Christian gives the clean break after a slap to the back, Styles slaps Christian in the face. Forearms and shoulder block by Styles, shoulder block by Christian. The crowd chants for both wrestlers as the two stare one another down, Styles chops and kicks Christian. Styles nails another shoulder block, Christian takes a breather with Styles saying “Is that all you have got?”

Side headlock by Styles, Christian elbows Styles in the face. Chops by Christian, Unprettier attempt is reversed for an electric chair drop, Christian rolls to the floor avoiding a Styles Clash. Christian wants a chair, Styles goes to the floor and throws Christian into the ring. Back in the ring, Christian elbows Styles. Flapjack by Styles, La magistral for two. Christian goes to the floor again, Styles nails a tope atomico to the floor. Styles continues to hold his ankle after the dive, Christian eats a baseball slide but avoids an Asai moonsault. Styles is rammed into the guardrail, Christian has assumed control of this match.

Christian nails Styles with a backbreaker for two, reverse chinlock from Christian. Christian is caught by a kip-up hurricanrana, Christian drills Styles with a clothesline for two. Styles misses a corner forearm after reversing Christian, Christian looks for the Unprettier. Styles survives with a massive backbreaker, Christian recovers and climbs to the top rope. Styles meets Christian on the top rope, top rope hurricanrana by Styles. Styles nails his signature dropkick, massive clothesline and knee drop. Two for Styles, Styles nails his middle rope inverted DDT for two.

Styles climbs to the top rope, Christian dodges and nails a Spear for two. Unprettier is blocked again, Styles Clash is blocked. Pele Kick by Styles for two, Styles tries a springboard but eats a massive powerbomb. Christian has a chair, Daniels tries to steal the chair but Styles attempts a sunset flip, the leverage allows Christian to trap Styles in a cradle and Christian gets away with the win.

That did not hit the levels I thought it would reach, it was good but it did not reach that next level. Styles and Christian could tear the house down if they wished to but it just did not, they do this awkward angle between Styles and Daniels where it seems Styles could be the heel and that is the dumbest shit and out of character thing I have ever seen for Styles at this point in the career. However, could Styles be doing something we have not seen Styles do in quite some time?

Winner: Christian Cage over AJ Styles via Roll-Up!

(NWA/TNA Tag Team Championship Match) AMW W/ Gail Kim vs LAX © W/ Konnan

AMW were the premier tag team in TNA for many years but they ran out of teams to face until the likes of Styles & Daniels, LAX and Team 3D came to the division. With this fresh crop of tag team talent, AMW have become rejuvenated in my eyes and they are all set to make this an awesome match. Hopefully, they do because this pay per view has been very average thus far.

AMW jump LAX, brawling on the floor to begin this match. Storm and Homicide are in the ring, underhook suplex by Storm. Harris and Storm toss Homicide onto Hernandez, Konnan distracts Harris and there’s a big clothesline by Hernandez. Hernandez clubs Harris, tag to Homicide. Slingshot tope atomico by Homicide, tag to Hernandez. Shoulder block by Hernandez, reverse chinlock by Hernandez. Harris fights back but is speared back into the heel’s corner, tag to Homicide. Illegal choke from Hernandez, Homicide applies a reverse chinlock.

Harris catches a lucky break with a massive spinebuster, Storm comes in like a house of fire. Right hands and back drops, headscissors on Hernandez. Eye of The Storm is blocked, dropkick by Storm. Hernandez saves Homicide, Border Toss is stopped by Harris, Hernandez drags in Harris. Crossbody by Harris, Homicide nails a spinning DDT on Harris. Storm shoulder blocks Homicide, Death Sentence is stopped by Hernandez who throat tosses Harris off the top rope.

Storm is caught for a spinning powerbomb, Homicide nails a top rope splash with Harris saving Storm. Harris does not hit Catatonic, Gringo Killer is blocked. Hart Attack by AMW for two, Hernandez drags Harris to the floor. Homicide trips Storm, enzugiri to Homicide, enzuigiri to Hernandez. Harris nails a diving clothesline on Hernandez, Death Sentence connects! Konnan distracts the referee, Gail Kim pulls down Konnan. Homicide cracks Storm with a blow torch and LAX are still champions.

Good tag team match, AMW showed a lot of the fire that I fell in love with them for, LAX have been great heels since joining the TNA roster. Konnan has always been phenomenal on the microphone, so much heat and so much momentum so the right team won this match, I am just interested to see where they go next with LAX. Oh, nevermind they fuck it up in the next five minutes. Cornette comes out and says that LAX are stripped of the titles for being big dirty racists which means this team loses all the heat they have built up because the pay off is LAX losing the titles so why strip them? This company is so stupid sometimes it is incredible.

Winners: LAX over AMW via Blow Torch To The Head!

(NWA/TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match) Abyss W/ James Mitchell vs Sting ©

Finally, Sting defeated Jeff Jarrett at TNA’s biggest show Bound For Glory. Sting is in deep trouble though as The Monster Abyss is here for Sting’s championship. Sting comes down to the ring and clotheslines Abyss to the floor using his signature bat, plancha by Sting. We have some nice crowd brawling as Sting continues to batter Abyss, Abyss’ head is rammed off the guardrail by Sting. Sting misses a Stinger Splash, Abyss smashes Sting with a chair. Abyss grabs tables and places them by the ramp, Abyss has a barbed-wire table.

Abyss wants to powerbomb Sting through the table, Sting fights out and punches Abyss down the ramp. Knees by Abyss, eye rake against the guard rail. The two enter the ring for the first time, chinlock from Abyss. Stinger Splashes from Sting, Abyss is in big trouble. Two for Sting, Sting is on the top rope. Abyss climbs up too but is shoved off, Sting nails a massive splash for two. Abyss tries using the championship on Sting, Sting ducks and has the Scorpion Deathlock. Abyss reaches the ropes though, Sting looks at the championship.

Sting wants to use the championship, Sting shoves the referee down. Black Hole Slame! 1..2.. Sting kicks out of Abyss’ finisher. No chokeslam for Abyss, the referee is knocked down as Sting is shoved into the referee. Abyss wants thumbtacks, Sting has his Bat. Sting knocks away the tacks, bat to the ribs and a Scorpion Death Drop but James Mitchell pulls out the referee. Sting pulls out the tacks, Abyss chokeslams Sting onto the tacks. 1….2….Sting kicks out and Sting shakes it off like nothing. Sting drop toeholds Abyss into the tacks, Scorpion Deathlock, Mitchell distracts the referee.

Mitchell is caught by Sting, Scorpion Deathlock and Mitchell taps like a mad man. Sting waffles Abyss with a chair, Sting has some ropes. Sting wants to hang Abyss upside down, Sting has a chair and Sting beats Abyss like a pinata. Sting clotheslines the referee and throws Abyss through the barbed wire tables beside the ramp. So, Abyss wins the championship by DQ due to a rule that has never been acknowledged ever.

Well, this was a load of shit. Abyss, The Monster who destroys everything wins the championship by being beaten to death. Sting, who we had sacrificed Joe winning the championship and Christian turning heel for Sting to win the championship loses his title on his first defence. Why? Why? Why? This was such a load of shit when it came down to everything, this ridiculous this pay per view is such garbage at this point.

Winner: Abyss over Sting via DQ!

Kurt Angle vs Samoa Joe

Angele vs Samoa Joe, biggest match in TNA history up to this point. Two submission beasts, no offence to Sting or Christian but Kurt Angle is the biggest star in TNA. This was massive and on such a disappointing card, I pray that this is the best thing since sliced bread. Joe has been undefeated, nobody can touch Joe while Kurt Angle is Kurt Freakin Angle.

Lock-up, Angle backing up Joe. Angle takes down Joe, Joe grabs the ropes. Joe knees Angle, right hands by Joe. Stomps by Joe, kicks to the various body parts of Angle. Boots by Angle, belly to belly suplex and clothesline by Angle. Joe pulls Angle to ringside, Angle is smacked off the guard rail. Uppercuts by Angle in the ring, Angle misses a corner spear and crashes to the floor shoulder first. Suicide dive by Joe, Joe rams Angle into the guard rail. Joe admires his handy work inside of the ring.

Angle is bleeding everywhere, headbutt from Joe. Joe digs his fingers into the wound of Angle, Angle is bleeding profusely. Angle fights back, snap powerslam from Joe. Two for Joe, tilt-a-whirl backbreaker from Joe for two. Slap by Joe, Angle slaps back. Tornado DDT by Angle, two for Angle. Angle unloads with German suplexes, three suplexes by Angle for two. Joe counters an Angle Slam, high knee in the corner. Massive enzuigiri, Muscle Buster by Joe for two. Angle Slam out of nowhere for two, Kurt Angle pulls down the straps.

Ankle Lock from Angle, Joe attempts to escape multiple times. Joe counters the Ankle Lock for The Coquina Clutch, it was beautiful. Angle is in the middle of the ring, is there anywhere Angle can go? Angle fights his way out and locks in The Ankle Lock, middle of the ring and Angle wrenches back with the commentators screaming like morons! Joe counters, Joe hits the ringpost hard. Angle Slam, Ankle Lock with a grapevine in the middle of the ring. Joe cannot reach the ropes and Samoa Joe taps out in the middle of the ring.

Once again, I find myself at odds with the booking of TNA. This match felt massive, I will not take that away from TNA. This felt huge and the crowd lose their absolute minds in the last few minutes but at what cost? Samoa Joe was not homegrown but Joe was TNA through and through, what could have it done for Joe if The Samoan Submission Machine tapped out Kurt Angle? They also build to this incredible match and they ask if they want to see a rematch and Angle who was portrayed as the babyface in the match snubs Joe like you are not worth my time bitch, I popped for that because of course babyface Angle ended the night as a coward.

Winner: Kurt Angle over Samoa Joe Via Ankle Lock!

That was TNA’s Genesis 2006, an average pay per view that descended into chaos as the booking continued throughout the night. So, you have the usual X Division style matches and tag matches that have people on the card for the sake of filling the card, they were grand no real qualms with those matches. From there, we get to the championship matches and this is where the decline sets in. First, you have Sabin vs Daniels which is a fine match from a workrate standpoint but there is nothing to flesh out Sabin’s new character, it starts off good with slaps and running away from Daniels but after that, it is the same Sabin match I have watched since I began reviewing TNA pay per views, if you are going to go chickenshit heel, go all in on that chickenshit heel.

The tag championship match was fine from a workrate standpoint too and then what do they do? Kill all the heat that LAX have built up by announcing they will strip them of the titles on Impact? The fuck would you do that for? Where is the heat? Who came up with this idea? How does this further any storyline? If anything, I am sympathetic for LAX for being stripped of the titles! Things only get worse with the world championship, a rule that has never been brought up in years costs Sting the championship. Sting uses chairs, bats and thumbtacks but hitting the referee is what causes a DQ? If we believe the narrative that the referee did not want to disqualify Sting because Sting would lose his title, why wouldn’t the referee call off the match after Sting punched him? Couldn’t the match have been thrown out as a result rather than Sting being disqualified? I am reading far too deeply into this but that’s what happens when TNA annoys me to such a degree. Also, why in the name of God did Sting chase the championship only to lose it a month later? Thanks for reading and remember: There’s always another night!

TNA Bound For Glory 2006 Review

Image result for tna bound for glory 2006

Hello and welcome to the return of Seanomaniac Wrestling Reviews, the only wrestling review series on the internet that promises to never leave you but leaves you for Hollywood anyways! It’s TNA Bound For Glory 2006, the big show for Total Nonstop Action. The Icon Sting chases down Jeff Jarrett, The King Of The Mountain may have finally met his match in Sting while Styles and Daniels battle the devilish LAX for the tag team championships while we have a Monster’s Ball match along with the rest of the TNA regulars. Will they step it up on this night? At their Wrestlemania? Let’s get it on!

TNA X-Division Gauntlet Over The Top Battle Royal

Austin Starr and Sonjay Dutt begin the match, shoulder block by Starr. Dutt nails a headscissors, chops in the corner. Maverick Matt comes down to the ring next, Matt goes to work on Dutt. Starr and Matt come together, shoulder blocks and fist drops on Dutt. Pendulum elbow by Starr, clotheslines by Dutt. Jay Lethal is in at four, hiptoss into a dropkick. Lethal runs wild before an elbow from Starr, A1 comes down to the ring. The fans groan, poor A1 usually gets you cannot wrestle chants. Here comes Zach Gowan, of Smackdown fame. One-legged wrestler, Moonsault on Dutt.

Kazarian is number seven, poor guy is as bland at this stage in his career. Kaz and Matt eliminate Dutt first, poor Dutt deserves better. Number eight is Sirelda, someone more useless than A1. Kaz bitch slaps her, Sirelda destroys Kaz for his troubles. A1 takes out Sirelda, the irony is not lost on me. Shark Boy comes in next, Shark Boy runs wild with neckbreakers. Alex Shelley comes in, big crossbody by Shelley. D-Ray 3000 is here, apparently an old TNA favourite? Shark Boy and D-Ray team up, headbutts for everyone. Johnny Devine comes out next, Zach Gowan is stunned out of this match by Devine.

Everyone stumbles around punching one another, no attempts at eliminations. Primetime Elix Skipper comes out next, my favourite botch-ridden wrestler. Skipper slips off the top rope, I love this man! Short Sleeve Sampson is in, what is going on in TNA at this time? Norman Smiley is here, Smiley saves Sampson. The Wiggle comes out, Sampson is tossed out onto a referee. Petey Williams is the final entrant, the referee eliminates Norman Smiley and Elix Skipper. Canadian Destroyer on Lethal, Williams is dumped out by Shelley and Devine. Starr throws out Devine, we are down to three.

Starr, Shelley and Lethal. Starr elevates Shelley over, we are down to two. The match now ends in a pin-fall or submission, Lethal is dead from the destroyer. Starr takes his time, Lethal catches Starr with a Dragon Suplex for two. Lethal looks for his diving headbutt, Starr crotches Lethal, kick to the head and a Brainbuster for the finish.

The battle royal was fine, nothing special in terms of spot and action but there are two things that stick out about this match. First, TNA out of the Impact Zone is fantastic, this crowd is absolutely electric and they react to everything. Secondly: Austin Aries was a huge name in the indies by this point, reigning as ROH Champion, forming The Next Generation and stealing the show with the likes of Samoa Joe, CM Punk and Bryan Danielson. The fans love Austin Starr, a star is forming before their eyes.

Winner: Austin Starr over Jay Lethal via Starbuster!

Team 3D vs AMW vs The Naturals vs The James Gang

Four teams who are out of the championship picture, looking for a chance to become champions for the first time or again depending on their situation. Brother Ray starts smacking down every heel in sight, uranage slams and clotheslines. BG James and Brother Ray do their punch spots on the heels. The two turn on one another, Devon and Kip James go at it. Double knockdown, everyone is out on the floor.

AMW attacks The Naturals, Storm is stuck in the tree of woe. Tower of Doom spot, TNA chants everywhere. Knee drop by BG James misses, Catatonic is blocked. Pump Handle Drop on Harris, lariat by Stevens on BG James. Eye of The Storm by Storm, Devon nails Saving Grace. Jumping DDT by Douglas, Bubba Bomb by Brother Ray. Kip James nails The Famouser. Stevens almost steals the pin on Brother Ray, Brother Devon is crotched on the top rope. Dudley Death Device on Stevens, Douglas is caught for a headbutt from Brother Devon.

Team 3D want tables, Stevens nails a dropkick knocking down Team 3D. The Natural Disaster connects on Devon for two and a half, Douglas knees Stevens by mistake and The 3D spells the end of this match.

Not much of a match, I enjoyed the feud that was going between Team 3D and The James Gang, playing off their history in the WWF and how in their one match, The Dudleys cheated to win. AMW were fantastic with Styles and Daniels but it seems they have nothing to work with now, maybe it is time for a split just like Team Canada. This match was just there, filled the spot on the card, nothing more and nothing less.

Winners: Team 3D over Everyone Else via 3D!

(Monster’s Ball Match) Samoa Joe vs Abyss vs Brother Runt vs Raven

Not a fan for one reason: This is one hell of a waste of Samoa Joe who is undefeated and had beaten the champion Jarrett twice, this seems thrown together for Joe which annoys me. Raven and Runt work together at first, keeping out Joe and beating down Abyss. Joe runs wild on Raven and Runt, facewash for Raven. Abyss chokeslams Joe out of nowhere, Abyss chokes Joe. Runt and Raven attack Abyss again, double low blow. Abyss clotheslines Raven and flapjacks Runt. Abyss tosses Runt into the crowd, Raven clotheslines Abyss to the floor. Plancha by Raven connects, Joe launches himself onto everyone.

Raven and Joe battle up the ramp, Raven uses his mask to batter Joe. Abyss drags Runt up the ramp, Raven smacks Joe with the mask off the ramp and through the table. Runt is scaling the stage, Abyss gives chase. Abyss chokeslams Runt off the stage onto a platform below. Cameraman misses Abyss dive onto Runt, the platform which has been described as concrete like has folded under the weight of Abyss. Abyss gets two in the ring, Raven saves the match.

Hip splash by Abyss for two, shock treatment is prevented by Joe. Rights and lefts by Joe to Abyss and Raven, Raven is dropped to the outside. Inverted atomic drop and high kick by Joe on Abyss, Joe misses his senton. Joe kicks Abyss in the shin, chops by Joe. Massive slap by Joe, Abyss is powerslammed on the chair with Raven saving the match again. Raven drop toeholds Joe to the floor, Abyss wants his thumbtacks. Jake Roberts rows with Raven for no reason, Raven and Roberts are attacked by Abyss.

Abyss opens his bag, it is a bag of thumbtacks. Joe lowbridges Raven, Abyss eats a massive forearm. Joe sentons Abyss’ face into the tacks, Abyss cries out in pain. Coquina Clutch by Joe, Raven saves the match again with a chair this time. Roberts DDTs Raven because fuck it, Muscle Buster by Joe on Raven for the win.

There was some good action in this match, Runt falling from the stage and Joe’s senton onto Abyss were highlights, I thought it was your typical Abyss match with it just building to Abyss eating shit on the tacks. A waste of Joe though, the man is the hottest in the company and the championship should be around his waist and not Jarrett.

Winner: Samoa Joe over Everyone Else via Muscle Buster!

(Loser Gets Fired Match) Eric Young vs Larry Zbyszko

So, Eric Young was in constant fear of being fired and now Young will be fired if he loses this match. Zbyszko was a constant annoyance for any babyface especially Raven due to his heelish antics and favouring of the likes of Jarrett and AMW. They stall for an eternity, they trade holds like the abdominal stretch. The referee is down already, Zbyszko pulls out brass knuckles. Young ducks, low blow by Eric Young. Young picks up the brass knuckles and Zbyszko is waffled in the face and just like that, Zbyszko is fired. Meh, Bleh, DUD!

Winner: Eric Young over Larry Zbyszko via Brass Knuckles!

(TNA X-Division Championship Match) Chris Sabin vs Senshi ©

These two stunk up the joint last time and why? Because some moron decided to involve Jackass and a blow-up doll, the crowd shat all over it as did I. Disgraceful stuff from the x-division. Sabin and Senshi start off trading pins, Sabin is the aggressor with big kicks before Senshi nails a kick to the back of the head. Shining elbow for a two, chops by Senshi. Sabin sells accordingly, snapmare into a shining elbow for two. Arm-bar from Senshi, Sabin battles back to his feet trading shots with Senshi. Irish whip to the turnbuckle, Senshi kicks down Sabin. Two for Senshi, snapmare into a bodyscissors.

Another chop war, Sabin uses forearms for his advantage. Kicks by Senshi, one to the back of the head. Two for Senshi, Sabin is left dangling on the apron before a massive dropkick by Sabin. The comeback is on, chops by Sabin. Senshi is tossed to the floor, Sabin nails a tope suicida. Senshi smacks off the guard rail, sole butt and enzuigiri by Sabin. Hesitation dropkick for two, cradle shock is countered for a dragon sleeper. Sabin backs Senshi into the corner, dropkick by Sabin. Springboard DDT by Sabin for two, top rope hurricanrana is countered as Senshi rolls through and nails a double stomp for two.

Senshi nails a springboard kick to the head for two, Sabin lays down clutching his face. The crowd is rallying behind Sabin, Senshi misses a corner clothesline. Yakuza Kick by Sabin in the corner, cradle shock attempt. Elbows and Ki Crusher is blocked, Cradle Shock plants Senshi for two. Senshi is placed on the top rope, top rope cradle shock is the idea. Senshi kicks out, massive kicks to the chest. John Wu dropkick, Warrior’s Way connects big time. 1…2.. Sabin places his foot on the ropes. Dragon sleeper, Sabin eats elbows but counters for a small package for the win.

While the action was exciting and entertaining from beginning to end, I did not feel the story they were trying to tell. This was about Sabin’s redemption, I did not feel Sabin struggled throughout this match, I never felt it for a second. Senshi never dominated, Senshi did not push Sabin to his limits. It was just too back and forth for that kind of story and I did not feel Sabin overcame the unstoppable Senshi.

Winner: Chris Sabin over Senshi via Small Package!

(8 Mile Street Fight Match) Christian Cage vs Rhino

Christian turned heel out of nowhere really, feuding with Rhino instead of facing the wrath of Sting, Rhino has a concussion going into this match so this brawl starts out on the street. Rhino batters Christian, they come back to the arena. Rhino is on a Zamboni, Christian is stuck on top of the Zamboni. Christian is punched off the Zamboni, Christian rakes the eyes and uses a street lamp to attack Rhino. Rhino dodges and wallops Christian, Rhino throws all sorts of weapons into the ring, Christian grabs a chair and waffles Rhino in the face. The Gore has failed, Rhino is not in good shape now.

Crowd brawling time, we come back ringside. Rhino sets up a table by ringside, Christian rakes the back. Belly to belly suplex by Rhino, Rhino sets up a table in the corner. Christian escapes a slam with a roll-up, two for Christian. 8 Mile road sign to the head of Rhino, Rhino has donned that crimson mask with the blood spilling down his face. Right hands to the head of Rhino, Rhino eats the ladder to the ribs. Unprettier in the middle of the ring for two, really wasted the move there. Ladder to the face of Rhino, ladder tossed onto Rhino. Christian has a straight-jacket, Rhino is defenceless. Conchairto, Rhino rolls out of the way, big boots by Rhino. Headbutt to the groin, Rhino asks the referee to save him.

Rhino is saved, Rhino has Christian by the apron. The two are on the apron, Rhino smacks Christian back into the ring.  Very ugly way of getting to the spot but eventually, we get Rhino Driver through the ringside table. Rhino misses the gore through the table as Christian side-steps Rhino. Two for Christian, Unprettier on the leftovers of the table, two for Christian. Rhino is buried under a tonne of tables, ladders and chairs. Christian smacks his creation with Rhino buried underneath, the fans chair and erupt as Rhino is not moving.

Nope, not for me. Rhino kicking out of two Unprettiers? Rhino of all people kicking out of two? Sloppy in parts, especially in the table piledriver spot. But the monster’s ball was more brutal and to have two hardcore matches on one show just does not work for me especially when they perform like that, I expected more hatred but it only came out in that final spot.

Winner: Christian Cage over Rhino via Conchairto!

(NWA/TNA Tag Team Championship Steel Cage Match) AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels © vs LAX W/ Konnan

We start off hot with everyone brawling, Homicide eats a backbreaker. Daniels and Styles batter Hernandez, drop toehold and knee drop. Leaping leg lariat by Daniels, Hernandez out-powers Styles and tags in Homicide. Styles nails his signature dropkick, tag to Daniels. Back drop and lariat combination for two, tag to Styles. Hair-slam by Homicide, backbreaker by Styles for two. Homicide sends Styles into the cage, in comes Hernandez. Styles is tossed hard into the cage, Daniels eats a boot and clothesline from LAX.

Exploder suplex by Homicide on Daniels, electric chair drop and elbow by LAX for two. Chinlock by Homicide, belly to belly suplex and tag to Hernandez. Homicide is handed a weapon by Konnan, Daniels is stabbed in the head by Homicide. Daniels is bleeding everywhere, snapmare and tag to Hernandez. Hernandez chokes Daniels, Styles saves Daniels after a powerbomb. Daniels has tequila spat in his eyes and poured on his wound, Homicide wants a cutter off the top rope but Daniels nails a super hiptoss from the top rope. Styles receives the tag, springboard reverse DDT, springboard clothesline on Hernandez.

Clotheslines by the champions, back drop for Homicide. Hernandez is flapjacked into the cage, high and low combination by the champions. Knee to Hernandez, dropkick by Styles too. Hernandez is scraped off the cage, Pele kick on Homicide. Fork to the eye of Homicide, Styles rakes at Homicide’s head. Forearm by Daniels, Homicide takes out Styles. Styles comes back with a Pele kick to Hernandez. Styles begins to climb the cage, Homicide and Styles are on top of that cage. Daniels comes up too, tower of doom but Styles is still in the air. Styles crossbodies onto Hernandez, massive spot.

1…2.. Homicide saves the match. Cutter by Homicide, Death Valley Driver by Daniels on Homicide, Hernandez belly to belly suplexes Daniels. Daniels is down, Hernandez is on top of the cage and misses his splash. Daniels cannot nail angel’s wings on Hernandez, Homicide has a coat-hanger from Konnan, Daniels is being choked out. Konnan is helping to choke Daniels, Styles fights back but it is two on one. Hernandex slaughters Styles with a clothesline, Gringo Killer on Styles for the win.

This was balls to the walls kick-ass type of match from some excellent workers. It is matches like this that make me sad for Daniels being overlooked for so long, Daniels is a tremendous performer and deserved so much more from the wrestling business. Homicide and Styles are freaks in the ring, Hernandez does his part as the big power man and Konnan on the microphone is money, the man is so easy to hate especially with the controversial uncomfortable racist remarks. Loved the use of the fork and the blood, cage matches need that kind of violence and the high-spots were all tremendous with each dive getting crazier and becoming more awesome, great match.

Winners: LAX over Styles & Daniels via Gringo Killer!

(TNA/NWA World Heavyweight Championship Match) Sting vs Jeff Jarrett © (Career vs Title Match)

So, Sting came back to TNA but things were not as Sting wanted to be in TNA as Sting could not capture the gold and rid himself of Jeff Jarrett. As well as that, we have seen Sting fail against Jarrett which annoys me for the simple reason that they sacrificed Joe for Sting’s big moment yet they did this match already which was bullshit for that heel turn of Christian. Anyways, once again we have Jarrett as the big nasty heel who has battered everyone and it is time for Jarrett to pay.

Jarrett hiptosses and armdrags Sting with ease, Jarrett feels that there is only one man showing up tonight. Knee by Jarrett, shoulder blocks by Jarrett. Sting blocks Jarrett before Jarrett nails another hiptoss. Sting looks a little shaken, side headlock by Sting. Right hand by Jarrett, dropkick by Jarrett. Sting rolls to the floor, the weight of placing his career on the line is affecting Sting big time. Jarrett spits on Sting, Sting finally comes into the match. Powerbomb and that’s a crazy first move to hit in a match, dropped across the top rope and clothesline to the floor.

Brawling on the floor, Jarrett meets the guard rail. Jarrett sends Sting into the guard rail, Angle takes a chair from Jarrett. Suplex on the ramp by Sting, DDT by Jarrett on Sting as Angle is cracked with a chair. Sting is dropped on the guard rail, big sleeper from Jarrett. Botch from the two veterans as we have mid-ring collision. Angle nails an Olympic Slam as the referee was going to end the match with a double count-out. Sting and Jarrett brawl, inverted atomic drop and clotheslines.

Stinger Splash connects, Scorpion Death Drop for two. Sting is shocked by Jarrett surviving the drop, The Stroke out of nowhere for two. Tombstone piledriver by Sting for two, Sting climbs to the top rope. Low blow by Jarrett, Jarrett wants Super Stroke, Sting blocks and tosses Jarrett into the middle of the ring. Sting tries a splash, Jarrett avoids it with double knees. Figure Four, Jarrett applies the angle lock to mess with Angle. Sting shoves off Jarrett, Sting has his bat. Jarrett has his guitar, Sting no-sells the guitar. Scorpion Death Lock and Sting is champion.

Fair play to TNA for sticking to their guns on crowing Sting as champion, the crowd were not loud for a lot of this match, I won’t lie the poor fuckers had seen Jarrett main event nonstop for at least 4 years and I’d be sick of it too. I liked the way the match started with Sting doubting himself but it slipped after that, had referee bumps and Angle was involved a lot of it. The best part of this match is the last twenty seconds, Jarrett nails the guitar and Sting no-sells, absolutely ridiculous but I loved it as did the fans.

Winner: Sting over Jeff Jarrett via Scorpion Death Lock!

That was TNA’s Bound For Glory 2006, a solid show from TNA but was it worthy of being their Wrestlemania? I think not and I shall explain in just a moment but I must give credit where credit is due, I breezed through this pay per view. There were no points where I glanced away, wished I was doing something better or begged for something to end, everything went at a nice steady pace with no match overstaying its welcome. The action was solid for the most part with a few matches falling flat at times. The main event was ok but nothing memorable albeit those last twenty seconds, Samoa Joe was wasted in a decent hardcore match, Christian vs Rhino lacked the heat it needed for such an intense street fight, Sabin did not sell me on the story of the babyface overcoming the unstoppable heel that was Senshi and most other matches were just there to fill space. The cage match was awesome though and if you need a reason to see this pay per view, it is the cage match. Thanks for your continued support and thanks for reading! Remember: There’s always another night!

TNA Destination X 2006 Review

Image result for tna destination x 2006

Hello and welcome to another edition of Seanomaniac Wrestling Reviews, the only wrestling review series on the internet that continues to let you down like an episode of Raw! It's TNA Destination X 2006, it has been long enough since I have featured TNA on the channel and with Wrestlemania 24 out of the way, I might aswell start with TNA so I have little memory of the card but I am sure you will figure it out as we go along so this is TNA's Destination X 2006!

Alex Shelley vs Jay Lethal

Huge Lethal chants to begin, two ROH guys who are rising the ranks of TNA. Shellley takes down Lethal, Lethal kicks off Shelley. Test of strenght, takedown from Shelley into a tequila sunrise, Lethal escapes with a headlock takedown. The two trade holds with Shelley raking the nose of Lethal they are slapping one another in a bizarre hold. Front chancery from Lethal, arm-drag. Arm-drag by Shelley, they sweep one another and we have a stand-off. Shelley wants a handshake, right hands from Lethal. Arm-drags into an armbar by Lethal, springboard crossbody and slingshot hurricanrana by Lethal.

Suicide dive by Lethal, back suplex by Lethal. Reverse chinlock from Lethal, German suplex is stopped by Shelley with a foot stomp. Dropkick by Shelley, boot to the head. Submission hold from Shelley, cover fot two.  Jawbreaker by Lethal, enzuigiri by Shelley. Reverse chinlock fromb Shelley, elbows to escape by Lethal but Lethal eats a massive lariat for two. Springboard moonsault miss from Shelley, clotheslines from Lethal. Hiptoss and dropkick, jawbreaker counter by Shelley. Lethal nails a neckbreaker and front chancery suplex for two.

Dropkick to the knee by Shelley, cradle goes wrong as Lethal counters for a close two. Corner clothesline, Shelley bits Lethal. Super inverted atomic drop, Shelley misses a clothesline and Lethal lands a German suplex for two and a half. Suplex by Lethal, Lethal climbs to the top rope. Shelley crotches Lethal, slap to the face. Lethal shoves down Shelley, diving headbutt for two. Dragon suplex is blocked, boot to the ribs and a shiranui for the win.

Good way to kick off tyhe show, Lethal is made out to look great countering Shelley at each corner, coming close on a number of occasions but in the end, Shelley is more craftier and has the experience to put away Lethal. Good showing for both, crowd loved the match.

Winner: Alex Shelley over Jay Lethal Via Shiranui!

Matt Bentley W/ Traci vs Lance Hoyt

Bentley turned heel and took out Hoyt with a chair, busting Hoyt open. Hoyt vows for revenge in this match, Bentley hammers Hoyt. Hard Irish whip by Hoyt, military press is avoided but not the back drop. Clothesline by Hoyt, Traci tries teasing Hoyt but Hoyt clotheslines Bentley hard. Big boot misses, chokeslam is stopped but powerslam connects for two. Sidewalk slam by Hoyt for two,  Bentley is placed on the top rope. Low blow by Bentley, Traci distracted the referee. Top rope neckbreaker by Bentley, neckbreaker for two.

Elbows by Bentley, choke using the middle rope. Snapmare into a front chancery, Hoyt powers out and nails a one-armed flapjack. Right hands and a clothesline by Hoyt, corner clothesline. Bentley is placed horizontally on the top rope, Hoyt kicks Bentley hard. Pumphandle slam by Hoyt for two, Hoyt misses his moonsault. Superkick is stopped, complete shot by Bentley. Young and Shelley are looking for Sting in the rafters to find Sting, funny stuff. Traci is showing the poster to Bentley, Bentley is distracted. Massive boot and Hoyt wins.

Well, I felt it was a nothing match. I mean they were working hard but the story did not really come through and to top it off, they cut away from the match to show Young and Shelley looking for Sting. The ultimate fuck you when we take away the audience from watching wrestlers in the ring and why would Traci be so stupid to distract Bentley with the flyer? I do not ever remember her being stupid, this sucked!

Winner: Lance Hoyt over Matt Bentley via Big Boot!

Team Canada W/ Scott D'Amore & A1 vs The Naturals

Poor old Team Canada, they have well and truly run their course and what could really bring me down is when they work with The Naturals who are bland babyfaces and heels. Roode jumps Stevens to start, elbows and stomps from Roode. Side headlock by Roode, shoulder block too. Stevens trips Roode, side headlock. Dropkick by Stevens, shot to the ribs. Russian legsweep for two, Stevens tags Douglas. Roode tags in Young, Douglas nails arm-drags into an armbar. Tag to Stevens, double necktie neckbreaker for two, tag to Douglas. Douglas is tripped by Roode off an Irish whip, Young takes control.

Backbreaker for two, Roode pummels Douglas. Back suplex by Roode, Douglas is placed on the top rope. Douglas nails a huge diving rock bottom, tag to Stevens. Atomic drops, Young misses a Stinger Splash. Young is crotched on the top rope, dropkick to the floor. Stevens misses a dive and Young takes control, reverse elbow by Young. Two for Young, Roode is legal. Elbows to the back of the head, neckbreaker for two. Scoop slam, middle rope knee drop. Tag to Young, boot to the ribs.

Young chokes Stevens with the middle rope, Roode pulls the neck of Stevens behind the referee's back. Tag to Roode, elbow drop for two. Choke by Roode, Young is legal. Stevens crotches Young who eats an ebnzuigiri and drops to the floor from it. Roode is legal, Roode clotheslines Douglas off the apron. Sleeper on Stevens, Roode pulls down Stevens by the hair, Stevens crawls through Roode's legs.

Tag to Douglas, clotheslines and back drops. DDT for two, Young gets caught in a German suplex and elbow combiantion. Douglas nails a double arm DDT on Roode for two, Young saves Roode from a powerbomb. Tower of Doom spot, D'Amore distracts Douglas. Young nails Douglas with a hockey stick for the win.

Bleh was my feeling towards this match, the cards that TNA produce usually have no place on pay per view, they are at home on Impact. This is a perfect example, no real reason for this match other than oh hey Team Canada are popular let's put them in another tag match and I am just fed up of it, time to move on as we have seen everything we could ever see.

Winners: Team Canada over The Naturals via Hockey Stick!

The James Gang & Bullet Bob Armstrong vs LAX

Machete obviously screwed up somewhere because I only remember Homicide and Hernandez. Anyways, LAX took out Bullet Bob Armstrong so The James Gang are out for blood.

The James Gang take out LAX, BG and Machete to start. Boot by BG, punches. BG has Homicide, Machete smacks BG in the back. Spinning heel kick by Homicide, snapmare and dropkick. Tag to Machete, triple team on BG.  More triple teaming, punches by BG. Machete nails a low blow, boot to the side of the head, more triple teaming from LAX. Neckbreaker for two, front chancery from Homicide. Homicide is thrown off the top rope; no DDT. Both men bang heads, could it be hot-tag time?

Yes! Kip is in, rights and Stinger splashes. A brawl ensues, Konnan and Bullet Bob remain. Slapjack misses, Bob pummels Konnan. Machete and BG are in the ring, Bullet Bob saves BG from a chair shot. Homicide is tossed to the floor, Machete is surrounded. Triple team right hands into The One and Only for the win.

Another fine match, this has a tastier storyline than the previous matches and that's what gave it an edge. They kept Konnan and Bullet Bob away from one another until the end, Kip James' frustration was a welcome sight.

Winners: The James Gang over LAX Via One & Only!

(International X Match) Petey Williams W/ A1 vs Puma vs Sonjay Dutt vs Chris Sabin

I feel I should call this The Other X Division Guys Match because they are all here. The focus was usually around Styles and Daniels along with their opponent of the month which left a number of guys competing in meaningless multi-man match. This is that match as Puma and Dutt start, beautiful transitions and holds. Stand-off, Williams and Puma are legal. Sabin and Williams are in, arm-drags and handstands/leapfrogs. Williams eats a springboard dropkick for two, Williams asks for a tim!e-out. Eye rake by Williams, roll-up for two. Everyone trades roll-ups, tornado DDT by Sabin for two.

Puma and Sabin are in, kicks by Puma. Butterfly lock, Williams tags in and kicks Puma. Scoop slam, leg drop for two. Low dropkick by Williams, Dutt tags into the match. Moonsault, Sabin tags into the match. Kick to the head of Dutt for two, Sabin and Dutt trade holds before Dutt throws Sabin to the corner. Corner elbow by Dutt, Puma is legal. Snapmare, two for Puma. Kicks and slaps exchange, Williams tags into the match. O Canada from Williams, straight-jacket submission from Williams.

Slingshot hurricanrana by Williams onto Sabin, Puma dives onto everyone. Puma cuts off Dutt with a clothesline, Sabin dives onto Williams. Dutt dropkicks Puma to the floor, Dutt moonsaults onto everyone. Puma avoids cradle shock and enzuigiri, kick to Sabin. Everyone kicks one another down, brainbuster by Puma on Williams. Middle rope hurricanrana by Dutt on Sabin, suplex by Williams on Dutt. Sharpshooter by Williams on Puma, Dutt dropkicks Williams. Tornado DDT by Williams, the destroyer is blocked for a jig and tonic. Sabin stops that, powerbomb by Sabin on Dutt with Puma saving the match. Double underhook supex by Puma for two, Dutt saves the match. Williams flapjacks Dutt, Canadian Destroyer on Dutt. Puma spikes Williams with a blockbuster, Cradle Shock by Sabin on Puma for the win.

Fast-paced exciting match up right there, similar to the first match. It is all balls to the walls, an exhibition to whoever is in the match, everyone looks fantastic coming out of it and it was what TNA was the best at during this timeframe due to their poor booking of the main event, do not worry I will get there soon enough! But matches like this made people fans of TNA and those fuckers cut away immediately not even giving the wrestlers that standing ovation moment when clearly the crowd wanted to do it.

Winner: Chirs Sabin over Everyone Via Cradle Shock!

Jeff Jarrett/AMW/Abyss vs Team 3D/Rhino/Ron Killings

Everyone in this match has issues, we start with a brawl. Abyss and Rhino pair off, Team 3D and AMW pair off. Killings and Jarrett are on the ramp, the others are in the crowd. Rhino wants to gore Abyss off the rafters again, Abyss boots Rhino Down. They continue to brawl around the arena, this goes on for a solid five minutes. We finally have ring action, Rhino batters down Storm. Tag to D-Von, spinning elbow. Storm elbows D-Von, ten punches by Storm. Brother Ray eats a massive Chokeslam, Storm tags Jarrett. Jarrett nails a middle rope knee to the back, tag to Abyss.

Devon smashes Abyss but Abyss shrugs it off, tag to Storm. Clothesline by Devon, tag to Brother Ray. Back drop, sidewalk slam and fallaway slam. Chest slap to Harris, tag to Rhino. Corner Gore into AMW, spinebuster for two. Jarrett saves his team, Rhino military press slams Jarrett. Belly to belly suplex, Gail Kim saves Jarrett. Slap from Gail, Abyss saves Gail from a piledriver. Rhino is swatted down by Abyss, corner clothesline for two. Jarrett tags in, dropkick by Jarrett. Two for Double J, Storm is the legal man.

Powerslam by Storm for two, double elbow by AMW. Sleeper by Harris, Jarrett and Storm put the boots to Rhino. Here comes Abyss, right hands by Abyss. Boot rocks Rhino, middle rope splash. Two as Brother Ray saves Rhino, Jarrett and Rhino clothesline one another down. AMW fail to double team Rhino, Rhino tags Killings. Right hands and kicks to everyone, complete shot to Jarrett. Lie Detector to Harris, Abyss splashes Storm by mistake. Osaka Street Cutter for two, Jarrett has his guitar.

Killings uses the splits to avoid the guitar, Rhino Gores Jarrett. Black Hole Slam by Abyss on Rhino, Killings clotheslines Abyss to the floor. Gail Kim is taken down by Brother Ray. Double diving headbutt by Devon and Killings, Abyss clotheslines Team 3D. Abyss eats a low blow, 3D! Harris and Storm come in, Superkick and full-nelson slam on Team 3D. Death Sentence on Devon, Killings is handcuffed to the corner but no Harris is in the cuffs. Scissors Kick on Storm, referee is pulled out by Jarrett.

Jarrett and Killings in the ring, back drop by Jarrett. Stroke is blocked, Harris pulls the leg of Killings and The Stroke connects in the middle of the ring, Team Jarrett take the win.

Five minutes of crowd brawling to begin is not a good start in my book, its just punching for five minutes, it stinks of laziness. No Sting whatsoever despite all the teases, the match goes for a long time without the flurries of excitement of an X Division match while the finish is as flat as a pancake.

Winners: Team Jarrett over Team Killings via Stroke!

(TNA X-Division Ultimate X Championship Match) Samoa Joe (C) vs Christopher Daniels vs AJ Styles

Three of the best battle it out in this match with Joe being at a disadvantage due to his size, Daniels & Styles try to climb the structure but Joe dominates on the ground. Dropkick by Styles, Styles & Daniels climb to the cables. Both men kick one another down, flying knee by Joe. Styles & Joe battle in the ring, forearms by Styles. Phenomenal Forearm, Joe elevates Styles onto Daniels, diving tornillo from Joe.

Joe begins to climb to the championship, Joe falls from the structures. Daniels nails Joe with a cross-armed powerbomb, leg lariat to Styles. Enzuigiri to Joe, high knee too. Daniels climbs the cables, Styles stops Daniels. Snapmare and kick to the spine by Styles, Styles and Daniels are on the top rope. Sunset flip powerbomb by Styles, Styles is closing in on the championship. Joe pulls down Styles, inverted atomic drop. Boot to the face, senton and face wash to Daniels. Daniels and Joe brawl to the floor, Styles saves Daniels from a running boot with a leaping forearm.

Uranage from Joe, Joe has a chair. Daniels stops the muscle buster, Joe slaps back but Daniels comes back with a spear. Shotei misses, Coquina Clutch from Joe. Styles nails an enzuigiri on Joe, Joe is perched on that top rope. Double Muscle Buster by Styles and Daniels, Joe is down. Pele kick by Styles, Styles is on the cables. Joe wallops Styles with a chair, Dnaniels dropkicks the chair into the face of Joe. Daniels climbs the cables and grabs the championship, simple as that.

Well, that was out of the blue. The match was getting to a good point, some really nice stuff mixed in there and on Daniels' first attempt at properly trying to grab the championship, Daniels gets in like a piece of cake. No struggle, no triumph over Joe. Daniels just got the championship, I thought that was rather tame to be honest with you, rather underwhelming.

Winner: Christopher Daniels over Everyone Via Retrieval Of The Championship!

(NWA/TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match) Christian Cage (C) vs Monty Brown

Cage took the championship from Jarrett (Thank You Jesus!) and now faces one of Jarrett's henchmen in Monty Brown. To be honest, Brown's momentum had been stalled almost to a standstill after his initial dominance in the company, Brown was turned heel and has been just kind of there. Christian has taped ribs due to Brown's attacks, Christian takes the back to begin the match.

Clean break from Brown, hammerlock into a side headlock by Christian. Shots to the ribs and a shoulder block by Brown, test of strength. Irish whip by Brown, chops by Christian. Brown tosses Christian to the floor, shots to the ribs by Brown. Christian is tossed into the crowd, the two begin brawling in the crowd. We get back to the ring, top rope axe handle is a bad idea for Christian as Brown smashes the ribs. Chops by Christian, Brown military presses Christian to the floor.

Onto the guardrail, Christian's ribs are the target. More shots to the ribs, Christian is suplexed rib first onto the top rope. Ribs first again, Christian is sent into the ringpost. Right hands to the head, abdominal stretch by Brown. Christian battles back but eats a knee to the ribs, knees to the ribs some more. Christian is Irish whipped, elbow from the corner. Tornado DDT is countered again, two for Brown. Rights by Christian, massive DDT out of desperation.

Clothesline by Christian, make it two. Rib shots by Brown, leaping leg lariat by the champion for two. Ten punches by Christian, Brown shoves off the champion twice. Knees and facebuster by Christian, frog splash misses. Bodyscissors by Brown, Christian escapes and nails a top rope senton for two. Unprettier is countered for a powerbomb, two for Brown. Unprettier is blocked twice, F-5 for two. Pounce is blocked, Alpha Bomb is countered for an Unprettier, Christian Wins!

Solid main event match, Christain and Brown tell the story of Brown decimating the ribs of Christian with raw power throughout the match. Christian weathers the storm to survive and plants Brownwith One Unprettier to end it all! Brown looked good in this match, Christian was able to much of the heavy lifting and it did not go too long.

Jarrett comes out and wants a rematch for the championship. Christianand Jarrett just brawl instead. Fair enough so, more people spill out, babyfaces and heels before Sting or Steve Borden comes out which leads to the debut of Scott Steiner. Steiner Recliner!

Winner: Christian Cage over Monty Brown via Unprettier!

That was TNA's Destination X 2006, a good pay per view but not a great pay per view. It has the usual TNA charm of exciting X-Division matches  but beyond that, some things could have been better. Matches that mean nothing, Hoyt vs Bentley? The Naturals vs Team Canada? It's notr only been done but there's nothing to these matches. Similar with the four way, it was fun but is it any different to anything I have seen or will see as I cover TNA pay per views? Probably not and more importantly, is there any growth in terms of any wrestler in this match? No they will be doing in the next pay per view so the question becomes why should I care? Joe vs Daniels vs Styles was disappointing, it ended without much drama at all. For a feud built up and it ending in TNA's signature match, you would think this would be special. Nope, Daniels wins with ease it was just weird. Good in parts, same old shit in others. Thanks for reading and remember: There's always another night!

TNA Against All Odds 2006 Review

Image result for tna against all odds 2006

Hello and welcome to another edition of Seanomaniac Wrestling Reviews, the only wrestling review series on the internet that totally forgot about Clash of Champions! I am back to review TNA, we have TNA’s Against All Odds 2006. This show is headlined by Jeff Jarrett vs Christian for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, I am not ready to watch Jarrett in the main event scene again, there is nothing more frustrating than watching that man attempt to wrestle. Despite my thoughts, these TNA pay per views are more often fun than not so let’s sink our teeth into this TNA pay per view.

Opening Promo

This is a pretty heavy promo which Jarrett running down the list of people he has beaten while holding that championship, Jarrett calls Christian a mid-card comedy act and we are going balls to the walls as this is Christian’s chance to prove himself as the man and shake off that tag as someone who never could be the man.

Austin Aries/Roderick Strong vs The Naturals

Fuck me, I would have preferred that Strong and Aries murder one another, we have vanilla team The Naturals who were only turned babyface after the passing of their manager Candido. The Naturals clear the ring after the heels from ROH tried to jump the tag team, Stevens and Aries are in the ring. Aries is pinballed by the two, Douglas tags into the match. Right hands, Aries meets the turnbuckle. Tag to Stevens, neckbreaker for two as Strong breaks up the pin. Multiple backbreakers and a complete shot by Stevens for two, tag to Douglas. Facebuster and neckbreaker combination, Strong saves Aries.

Strong nails Stevens from the apron, Stevens waffles Strong. Aries is sent into Strong, Aries takes out Douglas by sweeping his legs off the apron, Stevens nails a shooting star press onto Strong & Aries, Aries goes down clutching his leg this does not look good. In the ring, Strong chops and knees Stevens. Aries wipes out Stevens on one leg with his heatseeker missile suicide dive. Two for Aries in the ring, Strong tags into the match. Double mounted punches, backbreaker by Strong for two. Tag to Aries, Stevens fights out of the corner before Aries trips Stevens. Strong tags in and delivers an elbow, reverse chinlock by Strong.

Jawbreaker by Stevens, Aries knocks Douglas off the apron. Corner forearm and dropkick by Strong & Aries, bottom rope elbow by Aries for two. Tag to Strong, splash for two. Tag to Aries, Stevens crotches Aries. Strong is smacked in the face, Stevens yanks Aries off the top rope. Tag to Douglas, right hands to both. High knee by Douglas on Strong, back drop for Aries. Aries is sent into Strong, top rope hurricanrana with Strong landing on Aries, two for Douglas. Douglas tries a powerbomb on Aries, chop block by Strong. Aries gets two, lariat/German supple combination for two. Gutbuster/Forearm/Sick Kick for two, Stevens throws Strong to the floor saving Douglas. Natural Disaster is blocked, Aries cannot roll-up Stevens due to the referee seeing Aries using the ropes. Irish whip by Douglas on Aries and Natural Disaster for the win.

That was a fine opening match, not a huge fan of The Naturals which I have said before. I thought they were bland as heels, more bland as babyfaces with a forced turn. Too good looking kids but it was just not clicking as a top team, Aries and Strong were loved by the crowd I would prefer to have them two on my roster. On this night, we had a fun opener though, no complaints from me for this match.

Winners: The Naturals over Team ROH via Natural Disaster!

Alex Shelley vs Petey Williams vs Matt Bentley W/ Traci Jay Lethal

Here is a flippy X-Division match that I thought would open the show, the division had a lot of entertaining wrestlers at the time but with a dominant champion in Samoa Joe and wrestlers like AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels, it was going to be very hard to be noticed. Williams and Bentley begin, back drop and suplex by Bentley. Scoop slam and knee to the chest for two, Williams begs for mercy. Williams pulls Bentley into the turnbuckle, Bentley is placed in the tree of woe. Traci teases Williams, Bentley saves Traci. Missile dropkick by Bentley, Shelley tags into the match. Arm-drag by Bentley, Lethal tags into the match. Nice wrestling from Shelley and Lethal, stand-off from the two. Chops by Lethal, dropkick to the back of the neck, two for Lethal.

Neckbreaker and butterfly suplex for two, Williams tags in off Shelley’s leg. Backbreaker by Williams for two, Shelley tags into the match. Nice submission by Shelley, low dropkick by Williams. Scoop slam and slingshot hilo by Shelley for two, Shelley tags Williams. Dropkick to the back by Williams for two, camel clutch from Williams. Shelley and Williams have words over Lethal, Bentley tags into the match. Chops for Williams, back body drop by Bentley. Williams crotches Bentley on the top rope, Shelley comes in and wants a powerbomb on Williams. Lethal German suplexes Shelley but Bentley elbow drops Lethal.

Lethal forearms Williams, Williams blocks a suplex for a neckbreaker. Bentley is elevated to the floor, Dragon Suplex by Lethal. Shelley dives into a dropkick, leaping calf kick on Shelley. Drop toehold by Shelley, slingshot DDT by Shelley. Bentley is back in, right hands by Bentley. Complete shot by Bentley, tilt-a-whirl Russian legsweep by Williams. Jackie Gayda is here, Shelley is shitting bricks. Slap by Jackie, Williams is distracted. Bentley back drops Williams which leads to Lethal jacknifing Williams for the pin.

Fun match but the end goal could have been achieved in a better fashion everyone was in love with Lethal who was tearing it up inside the ring. However, the focus was on Jackie Gayda who had something with a sextape and blackmailing and I have no fucking clue like what does that have to do with wrestling? What does that have to do with a pay-off? Or a match? Pointless really!

Winner: Jay Lethal over Everyone Else via Jacknife Cover!

LAX W/ Konnan vs The James Gang

Konnan turned on BG after months of this group trying to come together, Konnan is a great mouthpiece and TNA finally realized it as K-Dawg is the mouthpiece for this villainous faction. No idea who Machete is, did not know Apolo was in LAX. Hernandez was the perfect fit so I imagine poor Machete does not last very long. In the midst of this, Ron Killings is conflicted as Killings was a fan of both men and a friend of both BG and Konnan. Machete, Konnan and Homicide jump The James Gang. The James Gang take control and send LAX to the floor, Konnan regroups with LAX.

Homicide and Kip start, stare-down between the two. Kip pushes Homicide down, military press slam. Neckbreaker on Machete, side headlock by Homicide. Powerbomb by Kip, right hand by Kip and a tag to BG. Eye poke by Homicide, in comes Machete. Right hands by BG, knee drop and a two for BG. Snapmare and a boot by BG, tag to Kip. Machete chops Kip, clothesline by Kip. Homicide stops the one and only, Kip is stomped to the floor. Konnan smashes Kip off the guard rail, Kip boots Homicide in the ring but Homicide avoids a stinger splash. Konnan attacks Kip while Homicide distracts BG, Machete is in and stomps Kip.

Homicide misses his splash, in comes BG. Boot for Machete, Homicide saves the match. Kip and Homicide brawl to the floor, BG nails Machete with The Pumphandle Slam and that’s all she wrote. Konnan attacks BG with his slapjakck, Bullet Bob Armstrong is in the ring and taking off his jacket. Konnan runs away from a sixty-six year old man.

More of an angle than a match really, I am surprised that The James Gang walked away with the win, way to build the great new heel faction. Kind of sucks the life out of the feud when the good guys have already triumphed over the heels at the first attempt.

Winners: The James Gang over LAX via Pumphandle Slam!

(NWA Tag Team Championship Match) AMW © W/ Gail Kim vs Chris Sabin & Sonjay Dutt

The makeshift team of Sabin and Dutt won a tournament to face the heel champions in AMW, Sabin’s ankle is not 100% which should be the story of the match. Storm and Sabin begin, Storm shoots for the ankle twice before Sabin tags in Dutt, a hint of how Sabin’s ankle is feeling. Side headlock by Storm, shoulder block by Storm. Armdrag and headscissors by Dutt, crossbody for two. Tag to Sabin, drop toehold and elbow combination for two. Sabin nails a missile dropkick on Harris, Salida Del Sol by Dutt on Storm for two. Harris tries a catatonic but Dutt reverses for a crucifix for two.

Storm distracts the referee, Harris has a chair. Sabin DDTs Harris on the chair, standing shooting star press by Dutt for two. Dutt has Harris down, Phoenix Splash does not connect. Superkick by Storm, Death Sentence by AMW and the champions retain their titles.

It was fine, Sabin sold the leg well throughout the match. I thought the desperation was a bit lacking at times but I could not fault Sabin’s selling throughout the match. Dutt was something of a strange one when it came to TNA, everyone recognized his talent but he was the ultimate choke artist always failing to win the big one. AMW were revitalised by the heel turn, they need quality babyface teams to work with, it is a step in the right direction.

Winners: AMW over Sabin & Dutt via Death Sentence!

(Falls Count Anywhere Match) Abyss W/ James Mitchell vs Rhino

The rubber match between the two, neither man were doing particularly well at this point in their TNA career with Abyss pulling out the same hardcore match night after night and Rhino having a less than memorable run with the championship. Rhino sprints down to the ring and pummels Abyss, Abyss is knocked into the crowd. Rhino botches diving into the crowd, Rhino has to take a second attempt at it. Crowd brawling, Abyss sends Rhino into a wall. Back ringside, Rhino pulls a trash can of weapons including the Super X trophy? Rhino is bounced off a car, Abyss has a baseball bat. Rhino ducks the shot, Abyss does not duck. They battle down to the ring, Rhino pulls out a table. Rhino wants another gore, Mitchell grabs Rhino’s leg. Rhino chases Mitchell, the two end up in the crowd. Rhino Gores Abyss who falls from the stands through the four tables that the monster set up originally.

While the finish may have been a cool finish, it is hard to separate the rest of the match from any Abyss has had since I began covering TNA pay per views. It is the same thing, Abyss is an idiot and it ends up costing Abyss the match. Abyss must have chairs, Abyss must have tables and Abyss must have thumbtacks. The mystique of the monster is gone by this stage, I have seen all there is to see from Abyss.

Winner: Rhino over Abyss via Gore to The Floor!

(TNA X-Division Championship Match) Samoa Joe © vs AJ Styles vs Christopher Daniels

The continuation of the feud that could have been handle better in my eyes, we have another match between these three. Daniels and Styles are the babyfaces while Joe is a killer, plain and simple. Not the classic from 2005 but a very good match from these two, everyone got a chance to shine in this match. Joe killed everyone, Styles showed off his athleticism while Daniels showcased his cunning and skill inside the ring. These three had fantastic chemistry with one another, they could have a great match in their sleeps. I want to see more but I really should not, Joe has mopped the floor with Styles and Daniels, we need something new for everyone. Where will we go from here? Personally, I cannot wait to see what happens next!

Winner: Samoa Joe over Everyone Else via Muscle Buster!

Team 3D VS Team Canada W/ Scott D’Amore

Team Canada cost Team 3D the opportunity to be tag team champions, Team 3D want revenge and if I wasn’t so worn out when it comes to Team Canada, I would be really looking forward to this match. Team 3D jump Team Canada to begin the match, D-Von pummels Young while Bubba manhandles Roode. Bubba has Roode in the ring, knee across the back. Huge chest slap by Bubba, Roode eats a German suplex. Roode clotheslines Young by mistake, Roode is sent to the floor. 3D on Young and this match is over.

Standard tag team match, nothing special about it at the end of the day. I thought a large part of the match was very boring, the constant camel clutches dragged and we had a false finish with the hockey stick that absolutely nobody bought in the arena due to Young not pinning Bubba before changing his mind and going for the pin, sucked the life out of me in a match that was already dragging in my eyes.

Winners: Team 3D over Team Canada via 3D!

(NWA/TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match) Jeff Jarrett © vs Christian Cage

Another WWE star jumping ship to TNA, Christian was arguably the hottest of the bunch as Christian was in a big feud around the WWE championship before leaving for TNA as WWE did not want to go all the way with Christian. Christian had the charisma and now, had the machine behind him. Christian had to go through the constant thorn in my side, the man who would dominate TNA whether he had the championship or not, that man is none other than Jeff Jarrett. Bit of confusion with who would be the referee, we have Earl Hebnar fresh off being fired by WWE for selling merchandise which he did not have the permission to do so.

Jarrett starts with punches, side headlock and a drop toehold. Paintbrushing and slap by Jarrett, tackle and punches by Christian. Chops by Christian, middle rope sunset flip for two. Christian wants a suplex to the floor, Jarrett lands on the apron. Both men end up on the apron, falling reverse DDT by Christian. Christian is catapulted onto the desk, Christian is rolled into the ring. Dropkick by Double J for two, blue thunder bomb by Jarrett for two. Reverse chinlock by the champion, Christian escapes but eats a stungun. Middle rope choke, Hebnar and Jarrett have words and a shoving contest.

Christian reverses for his own sleeper, powerbomb by Christian. Figure four by Christian, Gail Kim pulls Jarrett towards the ropes. Enzuigiri by Jarrett, sharpshooter by Jarrett. Christian reaches the ropes but Jarrett pulls Christian back to the centre of the ring. Christian reverses and applies the hold to Jarrett. Jarrett kicks off Christian into the turnbuckle who falls on Jarrett’s nuts. Right hands by Christian, inverted atomic drop and a clothesline by Christian.

Polish hammer by Christian, swinging DDT by Christian for two. Hebnar is taken down from an accidental touch from Jarrett. Christian is on the top rope, Gail Kim interferes. Super Stroke from the top rope, two for Jarrett. Right hands by Jarrett, Christian is whipped into Hebnar. Unprettier by Christian with no referee, two as Jarrett kicks out. Low blow by Jarrett on Christian, the referee gets low blowed too. Jarrett has a chair, Christian dropkicks the chair into Jarrett’s head. Second visual pin-fall, Gail Kim is chased by Christian. Jarrett cracks Christian with the guitar, Christian kicks out of course. Gail Kim is up on the top rope, powerbomb by Christian. Christian blocks the stroke for the Unprettier, Christian is your new champion.

Like always, the over-booking absolutely takes me out of the match. Not that they were doing anything special before the garbage kicked in, I did not feel the struggle or the desperation for Christian to finally win the championship. On top of that, we had the promise of a clean and decisive finish but you gave us neither, you gave us the same drivel you always fork out when Jarrett is involved that being chairs, guitar shots, finishers being made to look weak and all sorts to just pin the man to the mat. Killed the match for me, hoping that Jarrett leaves the company sooner rather than later.

Winner: Christian over Jeff Jarrett via Unprettier!

That was TNA’s Against All Odds 2006 which was a mixed bag reflecting on the pay per view. So much of what was a stable of TNA was on display with this pay per view but it’s the same thing that I have seen dozens of times when reviewing these shows. There is not enough shakeup going on when it comes to these matches which makes it very difficult to care about the product. The basic layout of every card is multi-man X Division match, Abyss hardcore match, Team Canada tag match as they have to be on every show and Jarrett overbooked nonsense in the main event. The reason I take such large breaks between TNA reviews is precisely for that, I cannot sit through month after month of the same thing with the exact same people. You could have swapped any tag team for the Team Canada match, Christian could have been any ex-WWE superstar, I need something that is unique and that is an alternative, that’s what made TNA stand out but I am starting to think that maybe those TNA fans were drinking the kool-aid. Thanks for reading and remember: There’s always another night!
