TNA Turning Point 2006 Review

Image result for TNA Turning Point 2006

Hello and welcome to another edition of Seanomaniac Wrestling Reviews, the only wrestling review series on the internet that has lower ratings than Raw & Smackdown Live! The hiatus is over, it is time for some TNA Turning Point 2006! Kurt Angle vs Samoa Joe one more time, Angle was victorious in their first meeting but The Samoan Submission Machine is out for blood in this rematch. This will be their final match for quite some time, can Samoa Joe have Kurt Angle looking over his shoulder, watching for the threat of he Samoan Submission Machine? Meanwhile, Abyss defends his TNA World Heavyweight Championship against Sting & Christian in a triple threat match. Sting is acting like a mentor and friend to Abyss, attempting to change the mind of the monster, enslaved to do the bidding of his father James Mitchell while Christian looks to blackmail Abyss with a secret that could ruin the monster’s life. Those are your main two storylines going into this pay per view so without further ado, Let’s get on with this pay per view!

(Elimination Five Way Match) Senshi vs Alex Shelley vs Jay Lethal vs Sonjay Dutt vs Austin Starr

Five of the best of TNA’s X Division in an elimination match, Shelley and Lethal will begin the match. Lock-up, wristlock from Lethal. Shelley goes to the ropes, Lethal kicks the ropes into Shelley’s nether regions. Headlock and abdominal stretch from Shelley, Shelley rakes the face and steps on Lethal’s face. Back into the corner, Starr tags into the match. Lethal nails a leaping calf kick for one, Lethal tags Dutt. Axe handle to the arm, flashing elbow from Dutt. Front chancery, Starr backs Dutt into Shelley’s corner. Foot choke from Shelley, cocky pin from Shelley, no pin. Dutt tags Lethal, right hand to Shelley.

Dutt and Lethal combine for sentons, dropkicks and moonsaults that floor Shelley, Dutt elbows Shelley becoming the legal man. Irish whip to the corner, Dutt looks for an arm drag using the ropes but Starr crotches Dutt. Shelley rakes Dutt across the ropes, scoop slam by Shelley. Senshi tags in off Shelley, elbow from Senshi. Two for Senshi, huge chop. Starr blind tags in off Senshi, clothesline to Dutt. Dropkick to Senshi, Starr was about to dive to the floor before Shelley tags in, the duo are fighting. Lethal nails a suicide dive on Senshi, Starr nails his heatseeking missile. Dutt and Shelley are the legal men, tornado DDT from Dutt for two.

Shelley begs for mercy, eye rake from Shelley. Drop toehold into the middle turnbuckle, dropkick to the face. Springboard DDT is blocked for Shelley, low dropkick and enzugiri from Dutt. Dutt misses his finish, cutter and camel clutch from Dutt. Senshi is distracting the referee, Shelley is pulled into the middle of the ring by Starr, Shelley has to tap, Shelley is the first man out of this match!

Alex Shelley Has Been Eliminated!

Dutt and Lethal are in the ring, Dutt nails a massive spinebuster on Lethal. Lethal recovers to nail a backbreaker and complete shot combination but Senshi blind tags in off Dutt, Senshi knocks the block off Lethal with his John Wu Dropkick for the elimination.

Jay Lethal Has Been Eliminated!

Senshi and Starr take turns torturing Dutt with elbows and slams, Senshi dishes out kicks to Dutt’s chest. Dutt is floored from Senshi, Senshi tags in Starr. Boot to the head from Starr for two, Starr chops Dutt hard in the corner. Dutt dodges a corner splash, springboard dropkick from Dutt. Leaping leg kick to a charging Senshi, Dutt nails a springboard clothesline on Starr. Lionsault on Starr for two, Camel Clutch from Dutt. Senshi saves Starr with a massive kick, Irish whip but Dutt reverses for his cutter on Senshi. Starr avoids Dutt’s staning shooting star press, Starr is rolled up after a failed brainbuster. Backslide pin by Dutt for two, boot to the head from Starr. Brainbuster and 450 Splash from Starr for the elimination.

Sonjay Dutt Has Been Eliminated!

In comes Senshi, springboard enzugiri for two, Ki Crusher is blocked for a crucifix driver, Brainbuster from Starr. Starr wants the 450 Splash, Shelley is distracting Starr, Senshi rolls up Starr after a missed 450 Splash.

Good match from the other members of The X Division, Austin Aries continues to be the biggest star in these matches as Aries as Starr is such a tremendous talent, the fans love Starr. Everyone nails their signature spots and the fans were into the match, nice to see the other X Division guys have storylines/angles going with Shelley and Starr fighting for the affection of Kevin Nash, Lethal continuing to be the underdog of TNA and Dutt shows why he is one of the best wrestlers in TNA.

Senshi Over Austin Starr Via Roll-Up!

(Bikini Contest) Ms. Brooks vs Eric Young

Ms Brooks vs Eric Young in a bikini contest, I am fine with silly angles with Eric Young but a bikini contest? Pushing the limits here guys, how does this get anyone over? Ms. Brooks strips and dances with odd close ups and we all feel a little more pervy at the end of the showcase. Up next, it is Eric Young. Young rips off a t-shirt that shows Young in a bikini. Roode wants to fire Young for cheating, Young continues to change. Young reveals Spongebob underwear, it is still not a bikini though until Young reveals his last attempt to win the contest. A tiny Sponegbob thong is now Young’s bikini, Young sells this like a million bucks. Eric Young wins the contest and Roode flips out and attacks Young. Young ducks a clothesline and shakes his ass before leaving the ring.  Roode is on the microphone, Roode berates Ms. Brooks. Roode wants Young signed to Robert Roode Inc, it will be Ms. Brooks’ job to have Young sign for Robert Roode, Ms. Brooks will be fired if she fails to deliver the goods. Fun and ridiculous segment, an interesting feud for sure between the former Team Canada members.

(TNA X-Division Championship Match) Christopher Daniels © vs Chris Sabin (Special Guest Referee = Jerry Lynn)

Chris Sabin has gone from Jackass pranks to simply a Jackass, something has changed inside of Chris Sabin, this young man has turned his back on everything that made him a favourite of the TNA fans, Sabin disrespected his mentor Jerry Lynn and The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels, it’s time for the two to battle for the championship, can Sabin’s brash new attitude lead him to X-Division gold once more?

Lock-up, Daniels pushes Sabin to the corner. Sabin rakes the ears and grabs a headlock, Sabin smiles at his handywork. Daniels eats a shoulder tackle, more rakes and a side headlock. Arm drag and wrench from Daniels, knee across the head from Daniels. Sabin pushes back Daniels, knees to the ribs. Armdrag again from Daniels, knee to the head once more. Sabin’s face is grinded into the mat repeatedly, Lynn watches on as referee. Leaping calf kick from Daniels, two for Daniels. Headbutt from Daniels, snap suplex and split-legged moonsault for two. Elbows from Daniels, Sabin stomps on the foot of Daniels, drop toehold onto the middle rope. Springboard dropkick from Sabin as Daniels rolls to the floor, Sabin winks to the camera.

Sabin nails a fist drop to Daniels on the ramp, leg drop from Sabin. Elbow to the neck from Sabin, make it two. Snapmare into a dropkick to the neck, two for Sabin. Neck crank from Sabin, Daniels continues to fight back. Sabin misses a clothesline, backslide for two from the champion. Neckbreaker as Sabin regains control, two for Sabin. Sabin steps on Daniels’ neck, choke using the ropes from the challenger. Scoop slam and a leg drop to the neck from Sabin, two for the challenger.

Irish whip, Daniels reverses the whip and scores with the STO, the champion could be back in this match. Right jabs and clothesline from Daniels, back drop and a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker from Daniels for two. Angel’s Wings attempt, Sabin slides to the floor. Daniels backs Sabin into the barricade, slingshot dropkick from Daniels. Daniels nails a Cactus Jack style elbow drop to the floor, both men feel the brunt of that attack. Sabin escapes a back suplex, nailing a dropkick for two. Yakuza boot does not connect for Sabin but the stun-gun does, clothesline and tornado DDT from Sabin for two.

Sabin tries a running bulldog, Blue Thunder Bomb from Daniels. Running high knee, DVD from Daniels for two. Complete shot into a Koji Clutch, Sabin reaches the ropes. Yakuza boot connects from Sabin, Daniels prevents  a springboard. Standing Uranage into A BME for the win.

I  was not a massive fan of this match, there are two main reasons for that: Sabin’s transition into a heel and that finish. Sabin’s heel antics come off as awkward, the winking while still showing the flashy moves, not many instances of outright heelish behaviour, it drags down the match in my eyes. Could have been much more made of Daniels’ neck injury but I just feel Sabin is not a strong enough heel wrestler to carry this type of match. The finish was out of nowhere, one uranage into the BME no struggle no dramatic build-up, it just happened like that, not a fan of flat finishes and we have the ultimate what the fuck moment in Jerry Lynn looking like the next opponent for Daniels, not Sabin, a twist that makes little to no sense, what is this booking?

Winner: Christopher Daniels Over Chris Sabin Via BME!

Jim Cornette & Sport Stars

All the sports stars begin to fight among themselves, one of the stars is the former Kiss Demon so we get Lance Hoyt booting The Demon and making the save, not a fan of American sports so no idea of who these people are so this segment had no effect on me.

AJ Styles vs Rhino

Rhino and Styles do battle, Rhino lost his best friend in Christian Cage, Styles was showing signs of slipping to the dark side, Rhino wanted to help Styles and Rhino has ended up pissing off Styles which leaves us with this match. This match starts backstage, Styles and Rhino begin to brawl. The two begin brawling in the crowd, lazy stuff if you ask me. However, this is a blood feud, being built as such so I will allow these two brawl like they want to murder one another. After several minutes of brawling, Rhino back drops Styles to the ramp.

In the ring, Rhino pummels Styles. Styles pulls Rhino into the middle turnbuckle, hard Irish whip to the opposite turnbuckle from Styles. Styles has targeted the back, surfboard stretch from Styles. Rhino breaks free to eat a massive dropkick, Styles eats an elbow. Rhino climbs to the top rope, Styles shoves Rhino to the floor. Styles misses a baseball slide, attempts a springboard from the guard rail and Rhino catches The Phenomenal One for a massive belly to belly suplex to the floor. Right hands from Rhino, Irish whip to the corner. Styles kicks off Rhino but eats a massive spinebuster.

Two for Rhino, knees from Styles. No Styles Clash, enzuigiri from Rhino. Rhino back drops Styles to the floor, Styles smashes his knee onto the guard rail. Styles writhes around in pain, the referee is checking on Styles. The dreaded X-sign from the referee but could this be a legitimate injury? The trainers check on Styles, Styles tries walking on the leg but Styles collapses in pain. Styles miraculously recovers from the injury and rolls-up Rhino for the win.

So, mostly crowd-brawling and once we finally get to the meat of the match, Styles goes down and fakes an injury before Rhino is caught for the win. A full-Styles heel turn, could it be possible to pull this off? The homegrown TNA hero as a heel? Going to give it time for sure, we will see where we go from here. However, this match was a disappointment for sure, Rhino’s best work in ECW was fighting the likes of Kid Kash, Super Crazy and RVD, lighter opponents who can make Rhino look good when Rhino is using those power moves.

Winner: AJ Styles Over Rhino Via Roll-Up!

(TNA Flag Match) AMW vs LAX

The most hated act in TNA, LAX conquered the team of Styles & Daniels, moving onto AMW, the two teams begin by brawling. Harris and Homicide are in the ring, Hernandez clotheslines Harris to the floor. Hernandez flips Homicide onto Harris, tope con hilo. Hernandez eats a massive superkick on Storm, Gail Kim moonsaults onto Homicide. Storm tries to retrieve the US flag before Konnan saves LAX. Storm is stuck in the tree of woe position, Harris eats splashes and clothesline.

Hernandez hands the chair to Homicide, Harris saves Storm from the chair attack. Harris planchas onto Hernandez, Storm powerslams Homicide. Homicide recovers and throws Storm to the floor, Homicide and Harris battle with a ladder, back drop onto the ladder by Harris. Hernandez throat tosses Harris into the ladder. Storm is caught into an electric chair drop and elbow drop combination from LAX. Harris avoids a Hernandez powerslam, sending Hernandez into the ladder. Homicide nails the three amigos on Storm, Homicide is on the top rope. Gail Kim distracts Homicide, superplex from Harris.

Hernandez stands tall, Hernandez has The Mexican Flag. Hernandez has to hang the flag to win, Storm prevents LAX winning the match with a sunset flip powerbomb off the ladder. Harris grabs the American Flag, Homicide cuts off Harris. Headbutts by Homicide, Super Cutter from Homicide. Gringo Killer is blocked by Harris, missile dropkick from Gail Kim. Gail grabs the ladder and grabs the flag, Konnan is in the ring. Konnan hair drags down Gail, Konnan is attacked by Petey Williams. Hernandez saves Konnan from The Canadian Destroyer, Hernandez suicide dives onto Storm.

Homicide and Harris both have their flags, Storm has a beer bottle. Both men attempt to hang the flag, Storm climbs the ladder and smashes Harris in the face with the bottle by accident. Storm is thrown to the apron, Hernandez climbs to the top and hangs The Mexican Flag for the win.

Again, I was left feeling flat from this match, this feels like a heated angle, LAX are generating a massive amount of heat from their antics and this could be a great match but the stipulation drags this match down and the match ends before we really get going, we could have had something great here. The best thing to come out of this match is that AMW look like they are breaking up anytime soon and we will see how both men fare when they are no longer tag team partners, wrestling in TNA since the early days of the company.

Winners: LAX Over AMW Via Hanging The Mexican Flag!

Voodoo Kin Mafia Segment

This is beautiful as we have BG & Kip James imitating Triple H & Shawn Michaels, beautiful only as DX 2006 was just plain awful. BG & Kip are interrupted by The “Spirit” Squad. BG & Kip Chop them down with Crotch Chops. Here comes Big Dick Johnson, I mean Big Oily Guy.  Sweet Chin Music by Oily Guy, BG begins cutting a serious promo. VKM issue a million dollar challenge, this was a lovely waste of time.

(NWA/TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match) Christian Cage W/ Tomko vs Sting vs Abyss © W/ James Mitchell

Abyss is your reigning and defending champion, winning the championship by DQ. Quite ridiculous if you ask me, what makes it more complicated is now Abyss is showing signs of character depth as Christian knows Abyss has done something awful, a secret that should not be revealed while Sting wants Abys to be his friend, the dominating monster now a confused animal and becoming sympathetic. Can Abyss be sympathetic? Of course, but Abyss should be a dominate champion, knocking through opponents until dropping the championship to the next babyface. Winning a championship by DQ is slimy chickenshit heel territory, not monster heel territory.

Abyss and Tomko are in one another’s faces, the two apparently have history. Sting attacks both opponents, Abyss slows down Sting. Rights and lefts, Sting fights out of Abyss’ attacks. Abyss is sent to the floor by Sting, Christian is sent to the floor too. Sting crossbodies onto Abyss & Christian, Christian recovers to send Sting into the steps but Abyss clotheslines down Christian. Irish whip and  a back drop by Abyss, running splash by Abyss. Foot choke by Abyss, Sting is kicked out of the ring. Christian dodges another corner splash, diving tornado DDT for two. Abyss breaks free of Christian’s attacks, Christian goes low with a dropkick.

Christian steps all over Abyss’ throat, Tomko unloads with right hands on the floor. Chops from Christian, Abyss looks for a gorilla press slam. Christian shakes off Abyss, we have a tower of doom spot to pop the crowd as Sting appears from nowhere. Irish whip by Abyss, clothesline from Sting. Stinger Splash for Abyss, Christian looks to gain control. Chops and right hands do not affect Sting, Sting tees off on Christian. Abyss & Christian eat a Stinger Splash, Christian uses an eye rake to stop the scorpion deathlock. Christian still gets crotched on the top rope, Abyss is sent tumbling to the floor. Tomko boots Abyss, Unprettier is stopped by Sting. Scorpion Deathlock, Mitchell distracts Sting and the referee.

Christian has the championship, slingshot from Sting as Christian hits Abyss off the apron. Scorpion Death Drop, 1…2… Tomko pulls out the referee. Clothesline to Sting from Tomko, the duo of Tomko & Christian batter Sting until Abyss makes the save. Abyss clotheslines Tomko to the floor, Christian is pressed to the floor. Abyss is thinking of chokeslam, Mitchell says stop and calls for a chokeslam on the tacks. Abyss looks conflicted? Commentators declare this but why would Abyss not want to crush his opponents? Abyss pours the tacks after the hesitation, it’s time for a chokeslam.

Sting talks to Abyss, saying do not do it. Tomko boots Abyss and plants Abyss into the tacks. Sting is talking to Abyss again, Scorpion Deathlock is applied before Christian nails Sting with a chair. Unprettier on the tacks is the plan, Abyss comes out of nowhere, Black Hole Slam on Sting with Christian being knocked out by a swinging Sting, Abyss pins Sting.

What was that finish? What is with this pay per view and finishes? Abyss is not even happy to be champion and we cut away too fast to even really digest what has happened. It was ok, standard triple threat match but again, it’s your championship match, I thought this would have been a million times better than this. That finish looked sloppy, Christian looked out of position, it was not believable the way Christian was sent flying, it looked so cartoony.

Winner: Abyss Over Everyone Else Via Black Hole Slam!

Samoa Joe vs Kurt Angle

Thee rematch, these two went to war at the last pay per view and despite how good the match was, it is believed that the wrong man won on that night. Samoa Joe was undefeated heading into the match, poised to be one of the biggest stars in wrestling and to beat Kurt Angle on Angle’s first night in the company would have been massive, this was not the way things went and it is truly a disappointment because regardless of what happens in this match, you cannot capture lightening in a bottle twice. However, do not think TNA are not going to try and do just that. Does this match need to be great? Absolutely considering what I have sat through on this night!

Lock-up, Joe and Angle trade advantage. Clean break, leg-trip from Angle and a wristlock. Joe overpowers Angle, Angle trips Joe once more, single leg crab from Angle before Joe reaches the ropes. Angle went for a cheap shot off the break, the mind games have begun early. Lock-up, wristlock from Joe. Short-arm clothesline, down goes Angle. Chops and rights from Joe, Tenryu-Style, stomps in the corner and a foot choke. Right and lefts from Joe, Irish whip reversal from Angle. Joe holds onto the ropes, Angle is elevated from the ring to the floor, Angle lands hard on the floor. Joe begins to kick Angle hard, Angle rallies with some bombs himself, massive uppercuts and a plancha to the floor.

Angle and Joe continue trading blows, Angle stomps Joe as he re-enters the ring, uppercuts from Angle. Angle forearms Joe down to the mat, snap suplex with a floatover for two. Angle has a bodyscissors on The Samoan Submission Machine, Joe counters into a Kimura Lock with Angle rolling on top into a Fujiwara armbar. Joe reaches the ropes as we reset, stomps from Angle. Rights from Joe, massive chops, Joe misses a clothesline as Angle ducks the right arm. European Uppercut from Angle, Joe fires up with slaps but Angle nails a belly to belly suplex. Angle mounts Joe with a rear-naked choke, snapmare into another bodyscissors from The Olympic Hero.

Joe fights out of Angle’s clutches, overhead German suplex from Joe. Rights from Joe, clotheslines off the ropes. Irish whip to the corner, Coquina Clutch but Angle headbutts out of the clutch. German suplexes from Angle, a trifecta from Angle. Beautiful sequence of counters, Angle Slam to Coquina Clutch To Ankle Lock to Joe tripping Angle into the middle rope. Enzuigiri, Muscle Buster is countered into The Ankle Lock. Joe shrugs off Angle, Angle Slam for two. Ankle Lock again, Joe trips Angle down into a Coquina Clutch in the middle of the ring.

Angle twists the ankle of Joe, Ankle Lock in the middle of the ring. Joe is desperate, Joe trips Angle into The Coquina Clutch once more, Angle is beginning to fade. Referee is checking the arm, Angle is in serious trouble, Angle rolls through into a third Ankle Lock. Angle grapevines the leg, Joe cannot go anywhere, could this be the end of this war? Joe reaches the ropes, Angle stomps the bejesus out of the ankle, Joe is on the top turnbuckle. What does Angle want? A super belly to belly suplex, Joe headbutts Angle down. Joe on one ankle is caught for the belly to belly suplex, two for Angle as Joe reaches down deep to kick out of the pin attempt.

Angle Slam is countered for an arm drag, Joe elbows Angle into the referee, we have a referee bump. Oh no, not a fan of this. Coquina Clutch from Joe and Angle is tapping out, Joe has had the visual tap-out on Angle. Angle low blows Joe, the hottest babyface in the company is going heel? I would not be surprised by these morons, Angle now has a chair. Angle misses the chair shot and whacks himself in the face, Coquina Clutch and Angle is trapped, Angle taps out evening up the series at one a piece.

This company irritates me to no end sometimes, these two are awesome wrestlers who kill it when it is a one on one straight contest about being the best. This is what this was about, to see who was the better man. Angle is the hottest act, your new babyface and you have him low blow and try to cheat to beat Joe. That’s fine if you could sit here and tell me that this company had the foresight to know they would be doing Joe vs Angle in two years time at Lockdown to decide the better man but that’s a crock of shit. So, you sacrifice a credible Joe win over Angle clean to tell the story of Angle’s inability to beat Joe in a one on one contest despite the fact that Angle did beat Joe just last month clean as a whistle in the middle of the ring. You see how this is an issue? Angle did not survive Joe last time, Angle gutted it out and won fair and square, it was not a veteran’s roll-up, Angle made Joe tap so for Angle to low blow and use a chair in this match comes out of nowhere but then again, Joe should have won the first match between the two, continuing his awesome momentum. The transitions and sequences in this match were awesome but this finish like a lot of finishes on the card just do not sit well with me.

Winner: Samoa Joe Over Kurt Angle Via Coquina Clutch!

That was TNA’s Turning Point 2006, an average TNA pay per view at best. What really hurt his pay per view was the lacklustre and heatless finishes that sucked the life out of what could have been entertaining matches. The show began with a fun X-Division match, Austin Aries is hugely popular while your other X-Division mainstays give good accountings of themselves in a fun match. The pay per view ventures into the dumb and wacky with the bikini contest and the VKM spoofs but I can let those slide as they were not too long. The rest of the card suffers from poor finishes, Sabin vs Daniels took a bizarre twist and Sabin’s awkward heel phase must continue hopefully Sabin finds his feet because it is not clicking with me for now. Styles and Rhino never really got going, I think the two could have a fun match at the least but I do not want to see heel AJ Styles, it has been historically a failure and Styles is too beloved by the fans for this to work. The triple threat did not deliver, sympathetic champion Abyss is not what this doctor ordered, nor did he order a finish that makes everyone look bad in the process. Finally, the main event should have been another straight wrestling match with Joe not underestimating Angle and showing The Samoan Submission Machine to be the same calibre of star as Angle, this was cheapened by heelish Angle antics and a needless referee bump as Joe tapped out Angle twice, rendering the referee bump pointless as the finish had the same outcome and making Angle look weak by tapping twice in the match. Not TNA’s finest work, I would not be re-watching this anytime soon. Thanks for reading and remember: There’s always another night!

TNA Genesis 2006 Review

Image result for tna genesis 2006

Hello and welcome to another edition of Seanomaniac Wrestling Reviews, the only wrestling review series on the internet that delivers less than The Mcmahons when it comes to change! It is time for TNA’s Genesis 2006 and this is a monster of a show as Abyss looks to capture the NWA/TNA World Heavyweight Championship from Sting while Kurt Freakin’ Angle looks to make his mark on TNA by battling the undefeated Samoan Submission Machine Samoa Joe. The promo package for the show is so God damn epic, it sets the tone for this show! Will this be a hit? Let’s find out!

(Handicap Match) Serotonin vs The Voodoo Kin Mafia

The New Age Outlaws come out to battle TNA’s version of The Flock. Kaz and Matt look completely out of place while Johnny Devine looks like a beefy Shannon Moore. Large DX sucks chants, BG and Matt start. BG punches, superkick by Bentley. Serotonin stomp BG, Devine bites BG before tagging Bentley. Dropkick by Bentley for two, reverse chinlock from Bentley. BG rallies and nails a flying forearm, tag to Kip James. Kip slams everyone, atomic drops. Pedigree on Bentley, Bentley is thrown to the floor and well as Kaz. One and Only on Bentley and this match is over.

Not the best way to get your new faction over, funny looking at Road Dogg and Billy Gunn take the piss out of Michaels and Triple H while they are now all buddy buddy. Big boys throwing out their toys, but the match got the crowd excited so it seems to be fine.

Winners: The James Gang over Serotonin via One & Only!

Sonjay Dutt & Jay Lethal vs The Naturals W/ Shane Douglas

The Naturals sucks, they have always sucked and I will never ever care for them in the slightest. They tried to put these two over many times, their latest attempt is having The Naturals attack Team 3D. The Naturals jump Dutt & Lethal to begin the match, Dutt & Lethal battle back and dive onto The Naturals. Lethal and Stevens pair off, bulldog and dropkick by Lethal. Douglas saves Stevens, Lethal elbows Stevens. Headscissors out of the corner is countered by Stevens, blatant low blow.

Douglas comes in and chokes Lethal, eye rake by Douglas. Douglas stomps Lethal, tag to Stevens. Axe handles by Stevens, wishbone split by The Naturals. Stevens chokes Lethal on the middle rope following the wishbone, Douglas enters illegally without the tag. Douglas reaches out to Stevens for extra leverage. The referee catches Stevens, Lethal fights back but eats a huge knee for two. Tag to Stevens, big boot to the face. Lethal mounts another comeback, wheelbarrow suplex from Stevens for two. Stevens climbs to the top rope, diving axe handle for two.

Douglas tags in, axe handle does not connect as Lethal smashes Douglas in the ribs. Tag to Dutt, Stevens eats right hands. Leaping leg lariat and tilt-a-whirl headscissors, neckbreaker from Dutt for two. Stevens uppercuts Dutt, Dutt dodges and nails Douglas with a springboard seated senton. Stevens eats a backbreaker and flatliner combination, springboard moonsault from Dutt for two. Boot by Dutt, Shane Douglas gets involved. Stevens and Douglas nail an assisted dropkick powerbomb for the win.

Well, that finish look absolutely weak. The fans chant you fucked up at The Naturals and do I need to say much more? I truly do not care about those two boys, they just do not have the talent that their push warrants but I have to give credit on TNA for not giving up on those two. Lethal has connected with the TNA audience just like he did with ROH, it is for the best and Sonjay Dutt is a talented freak who is ignored when it comes to pushes, this is not fair.

Winners: The Naturals over Lethal & Dutt via Powerbomb!

(TNA X-Division Championship Match) Christopher Daniels © VS Chris Sabin

After vowing to move on from the X Division likes of Samoa Joe, AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels, we have Christopher Daniels as X-Division Champion. What? Yes, Daniels and Styles traded the belt with Sabin who was the newly-christened champion after dedicating himself to his craft to defeat Senshi. Fortunately, Sabin has finally found an edge as a cocky and arrogant heel. They lock-up, eye poke by Sabin who backs away from an irate Daniels. Side headlock by Daniels, Sabin escapes and slaps Daniels.

Sabin continues to frustrate Daniels, arm-wringer from Sabin. Daniels eats another eye poke, Sabin stomps all over Daniels. Hiptoss by Daniels for two,  the two trade counters before another hiptoss by Daniels. Sabin rolls out to the floor, Sabin shoots for a takedown, more flips before Daniels steps on the head of Sabin. Curb stomp by Daniels, split-legged moonsault for two. Sabin is bounced off the turnbuckle multiple times, headbutt by Daniels. Two for Daniels, Sabin elevates Daniels to the apron. Sabin dropkicks Daniels to the floor who smashes his back off the concrete.

Apron axe handle by Sabin, Sabin drops Daniels throat-first onto the guardrail. Two for Sabin, fist drop and dropkick to the back of the head by Sabin for two. Nerve hold from Sabin, Daniels fights out but Sabin maintains control. Knee across the back on the middle rope from Sabin, snapmare into a stretch from Sabin. Daniels is crotched in the tree of woe, hesitation dropkick by Sabin. Sabin grabs a chair, AJ Styles takes the chair from Sabin. Daniels dodges a hesitation dropkick and lands a crossbody to the floor. Jawbreaker in the ring, forearms by Daniels.

Running STO by Daniels, cross-armed powerbomb by Daniels for two. Uranage by Daniels, Sabin grabs the leg of Daniels to stop the BME. Sabin is on the apron, springboard DDT for two. Pop-up powerbomb by Sabin for two, Irish whip to the corner. Sabin nails a spinning sole butt, springboard ddt is countered for a Death Valley Driver by Daniels. BME connects and Daniels gets two. Angel’s Wings is blocked, dragon screw by Sabin. Yakuza Kick in the corner, Cradle Shock is reversed for a crucifix at two and a half. Low dropkick by Sabin, Argentine backbreaker is countered for a roll-up, Daniels wins. Jerry Lynn saves Daniels from an assault from Sabin.

The X Division Style always leads to a fun match, that is never a doubt when it comes to these wrestlers, their style is fun to watch and the crowd goes nuts especially during the glory years of TNA. However, this did not pay off for me when it came to story-telling in this match. Sabin has a fun character tweak with this entitled cocky douchebag but that leaves the match after the first sections where Sabin slaps Daniels. After that, is Sabin doing anything truly heelish? Grabbing a chair when he is the challenger in a title match? Was his plan to lose his championship match by DQ? You see why I have trouble with this story-telling?

Winner: Christopher Daniels over Chris Sabin via Roll-Up!

Ron Killings & Lance Hoyt vs Paparazzi Productions

Kevin Nash on commentary is gold, I will hear nothing less. So, Starr and Shelley have issues under Nash’s tutelage while Killings and Hoyt have nothing to do.  Shelley and Killings begin, Shelley steps on the hands of Killings. Killings nails a shoulder block, kick by Shelley. Lots of dancing, flatliner by Killings. Starr tags in, more dancing. Starr goes to work, stomps in the corner. Starr leapfrogs and dances, Killings nails a running powerslam. Hoyt nails a right hand, Starr is pinballed between the two.

Hoyt tags in, double hiptoss. Elbow drops for two, Shelley saves Starr. Knees by Hoyt, Starr eats a massive flapjack. Hoyt looks for his moonsault, Shelley illegally trips Hoyt, Starr nails a running dropkick to Hoyt who is in the tree of woe. Shelley tags in, Shelley and Starr take turns wrenching the knee of Hoyt who screams out in pain. Starr nails his corkscrew slingshot splash for two, more knees by Starr. Tag to Shelley, neckbreaker from Shelley. Shelley climbs to the top rope, Hoyt blocks the splash with a big boot. Hoyt clotheslines Shelley on one leg.

Tag to Killings, right hands to Starr & Shelley. Lie Detector, Starr & Shelley miscommunicate and Shelley wheel kicks Starr. Osaka street cutter by Truth for two, Starr saves Shelley. Double dropkick by Killings, Hoyt helps Killings nail  a dropkick to the groin. Killings misses a leg lariat, Starr elbows Killings to the floor. Hoyt eats a kick to the knee, heatseeker by Starr onto Killings. Shelley frogsplashes the knee, Starr shoots Shelley with the camera but Hoyt small packages Shelley for the win.

That was decent like the rest of the card, Nash is a treasure on commentary while Killings and Hoy deserve more to do on pay per view. Starr is a fun gimmick but Aries is so talented, it really is a waste to not let him rip people apart in the X Division but the feud between Shelley and Starr continues so I am looking forward to that.

Winners: Hoyt & Killings over Paparazzi Productions Via Small Package!

AJ Styles vs Christian Cage

This is a big match, Christian turned heel for no apparent reason earlier in the year which made no sense other than they needed to ensure Sting was the number one babyface in the company (More on that later folks!). So, Christian turned heel, fitting himself into a role he is all too familiar with as a cocky, arrogant ass who wants to be champion. Standing across from Christian is Mr. TNA AJ Styles, this will be fun plain and simple. Styles is in there with a huge star and Styles always rises to the occasion.

Huge lock-up to start, aggressive lock-up which sets the tone for this match. Christian takes the back, Styles switches to the back. Christian slams Styles to the mat, Christian maintains control before Styles goes to the ropes. Christian gives the clean break after a slap to the back, Styles slaps Christian in the face. Forearms and shoulder block by Styles, shoulder block by Christian. The crowd chants for both wrestlers as the two stare one another down, Styles chops and kicks Christian. Styles nails another shoulder block, Christian takes a breather with Styles saying “Is that all you have got?”

Side headlock by Styles, Christian elbows Styles in the face. Chops by Christian, Unprettier attempt is reversed for an electric chair drop, Christian rolls to the floor avoiding a Styles Clash. Christian wants a chair, Styles goes to the floor and throws Christian into the ring. Back in the ring, Christian elbows Styles. Flapjack by Styles, La magistral for two. Christian goes to the floor again, Styles nails a tope atomico to the floor. Styles continues to hold his ankle after the dive, Christian eats a baseball slide but avoids an Asai moonsault. Styles is rammed into the guardrail, Christian has assumed control of this match.

Christian nails Styles with a backbreaker for two, reverse chinlock from Christian. Christian is caught by a kip-up hurricanrana, Christian drills Styles with a clothesline for two. Styles misses a corner forearm after reversing Christian, Christian looks for the Unprettier. Styles survives with a massive backbreaker, Christian recovers and climbs to the top rope. Styles meets Christian on the top rope, top rope hurricanrana by Styles. Styles nails his signature dropkick, massive clothesline and knee drop. Two for Styles, Styles nails his middle rope inverted DDT for two.

Styles climbs to the top rope, Christian dodges and nails a Spear for two. Unprettier is blocked again, Styles Clash is blocked. Pele Kick by Styles for two, Styles tries a springboard but eats a massive powerbomb. Christian has a chair, Daniels tries to steal the chair but Styles attempts a sunset flip, the leverage allows Christian to trap Styles in a cradle and Christian gets away with the win.

That did not hit the levels I thought it would reach, it was good but it did not reach that next level. Styles and Christian could tear the house down if they wished to but it just did not, they do this awkward angle between Styles and Daniels where it seems Styles could be the heel and that is the dumbest shit and out of character thing I have ever seen for Styles at this point in the career. However, could Styles be doing something we have not seen Styles do in quite some time?

Winner: Christian Cage over AJ Styles via Roll-Up!

(NWA/TNA Tag Team Championship Match) AMW W/ Gail Kim vs LAX © W/ Konnan

AMW were the premier tag team in TNA for many years but they ran out of teams to face until the likes of Styles & Daniels, LAX and Team 3D came to the division. With this fresh crop of tag team talent, AMW have become rejuvenated in my eyes and they are all set to make this an awesome match. Hopefully, they do because this pay per view has been very average thus far.

AMW jump LAX, brawling on the floor to begin this match. Storm and Homicide are in the ring, underhook suplex by Storm. Harris and Storm toss Homicide onto Hernandez, Konnan distracts Harris and there’s a big clothesline by Hernandez. Hernandez clubs Harris, tag to Homicide. Slingshot tope atomico by Homicide, tag to Hernandez. Shoulder block by Hernandez, reverse chinlock by Hernandez. Harris fights back but is speared back into the heel’s corner, tag to Homicide. Illegal choke from Hernandez, Homicide applies a reverse chinlock.

Harris catches a lucky break with a massive spinebuster, Storm comes in like a house of fire. Right hands and back drops, headscissors on Hernandez. Eye of The Storm is blocked, dropkick by Storm. Hernandez saves Homicide, Border Toss is stopped by Harris, Hernandez drags in Harris. Crossbody by Harris, Homicide nails a spinning DDT on Harris. Storm shoulder blocks Homicide, Death Sentence is stopped by Hernandez who throat tosses Harris off the top rope.

Storm is caught for a spinning powerbomb, Homicide nails a top rope splash with Harris saving Storm. Harris does not hit Catatonic, Gringo Killer is blocked. Hart Attack by AMW for two, Hernandez drags Harris to the floor. Homicide trips Storm, enzugiri to Homicide, enzuigiri to Hernandez. Harris nails a diving clothesline on Hernandez, Death Sentence connects! Konnan distracts the referee, Gail Kim pulls down Konnan. Homicide cracks Storm with a blow torch and LAX are still champions.

Good tag team match, AMW showed a lot of the fire that I fell in love with them for, LAX have been great heels since joining the TNA roster. Konnan has always been phenomenal on the microphone, so much heat and so much momentum so the right team won this match, I am just interested to see where they go next with LAX. Oh, nevermind they fuck it up in the next five minutes. Cornette comes out and says that LAX are stripped of the titles for being big dirty racists which means this team loses all the heat they have built up because the pay off is LAX losing the titles so why strip them? This company is so stupid sometimes it is incredible.

Winners: LAX over AMW via Blow Torch To The Head!

(NWA/TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match) Abyss W/ James Mitchell vs Sting ©

Finally, Sting defeated Jeff Jarrett at TNA’s biggest show Bound For Glory. Sting is in deep trouble though as The Monster Abyss is here for Sting’s championship. Sting comes down to the ring and clotheslines Abyss to the floor using his signature bat, plancha by Sting. We have some nice crowd brawling as Sting continues to batter Abyss, Abyss’ head is rammed off the guardrail by Sting. Sting misses a Stinger Splash, Abyss smashes Sting with a chair. Abyss grabs tables and places them by the ramp, Abyss has a barbed-wire table.

Abyss wants to powerbomb Sting through the table, Sting fights out and punches Abyss down the ramp. Knees by Abyss, eye rake against the guard rail. The two enter the ring for the first time, chinlock from Abyss. Stinger Splashes from Sting, Abyss is in big trouble. Two for Sting, Sting is on the top rope. Abyss climbs up too but is shoved off, Sting nails a massive splash for two. Abyss tries using the championship on Sting, Sting ducks and has the Scorpion Deathlock. Abyss reaches the ropes though, Sting looks at the championship.

Sting wants to use the championship, Sting shoves the referee down. Black Hole Slame! 1..2.. Sting kicks out of Abyss’ finisher. No chokeslam for Abyss, the referee is knocked down as Sting is shoved into the referee. Abyss wants thumbtacks, Sting has his Bat. Sting knocks away the tacks, bat to the ribs and a Scorpion Death Drop but James Mitchell pulls out the referee. Sting pulls out the tacks, Abyss chokeslams Sting onto the tacks. 1….2….Sting kicks out and Sting shakes it off like nothing. Sting drop toeholds Abyss into the tacks, Scorpion Deathlock, Mitchell distracts the referee.

Mitchell is caught by Sting, Scorpion Deathlock and Mitchell taps like a mad man. Sting waffles Abyss with a chair, Sting has some ropes. Sting wants to hang Abyss upside down, Sting has a chair and Sting beats Abyss like a pinata. Sting clotheslines the referee and throws Abyss through the barbed wire tables beside the ramp. So, Abyss wins the championship by DQ due to a rule that has never been acknowledged ever.

Well, this was a load of shit. Abyss, The Monster who destroys everything wins the championship by being beaten to death. Sting, who we had sacrificed Joe winning the championship and Christian turning heel for Sting to win the championship loses his title on his first defence. Why? Why? Why? This was such a load of shit when it came down to everything, this ridiculous this pay per view is such garbage at this point.

Winner: Abyss over Sting via DQ!

Kurt Angle vs Samoa Joe

Angele vs Samoa Joe, biggest match in TNA history up to this point. Two submission beasts, no offence to Sting or Christian but Kurt Angle is the biggest star in TNA. This was massive and on such a disappointing card, I pray that this is the best thing since sliced bread. Joe has been undefeated, nobody can touch Joe while Kurt Angle is Kurt Freakin Angle.

Lock-up, Angle backing up Joe. Angle takes down Joe, Joe grabs the ropes. Joe knees Angle, right hands by Joe. Stomps by Joe, kicks to the various body parts of Angle. Boots by Angle, belly to belly suplex and clothesline by Angle. Joe pulls Angle to ringside, Angle is smacked off the guard rail. Uppercuts by Angle in the ring, Angle misses a corner spear and crashes to the floor shoulder first. Suicide dive by Joe, Joe rams Angle into the guard rail. Joe admires his handy work inside of the ring.

Angle is bleeding everywhere, headbutt from Joe. Joe digs his fingers into the wound of Angle, Angle is bleeding profusely. Angle fights back, snap powerslam from Joe. Two for Joe, tilt-a-whirl backbreaker from Joe for two. Slap by Joe, Angle slaps back. Tornado DDT by Angle, two for Angle. Angle unloads with German suplexes, three suplexes by Angle for two. Joe counters an Angle Slam, high knee in the corner. Massive enzuigiri, Muscle Buster by Joe for two. Angle Slam out of nowhere for two, Kurt Angle pulls down the straps.

Ankle Lock from Angle, Joe attempts to escape multiple times. Joe counters the Ankle Lock for The Coquina Clutch, it was beautiful. Angle is in the middle of the ring, is there anywhere Angle can go? Angle fights his way out and locks in The Ankle Lock, middle of the ring and Angle wrenches back with the commentators screaming like morons! Joe counters, Joe hits the ringpost hard. Angle Slam, Ankle Lock with a grapevine in the middle of the ring. Joe cannot reach the ropes and Samoa Joe taps out in the middle of the ring.

Once again, I find myself at odds with the booking of TNA. This match felt massive, I will not take that away from TNA. This felt huge and the crowd lose their absolute minds in the last few minutes but at what cost? Samoa Joe was not homegrown but Joe was TNA through and through, what could have it done for Joe if The Samoan Submission Machine tapped out Kurt Angle? They also build to this incredible match and they ask if they want to see a rematch and Angle who was portrayed as the babyface in the match snubs Joe like you are not worth my time bitch, I popped for that because of course babyface Angle ended the night as a coward.

Winner: Kurt Angle over Samoa Joe Via Ankle Lock!

That was TNA’s Genesis 2006, an average pay per view that descended into chaos as the booking continued throughout the night. So, you have the usual X Division style matches and tag matches that have people on the card for the sake of filling the card, they were grand no real qualms with those matches. From there, we get to the championship matches and this is where the decline sets in. First, you have Sabin vs Daniels which is a fine match from a workrate standpoint but there is nothing to flesh out Sabin’s new character, it starts off good with slaps and running away from Daniels but after that, it is the same Sabin match I have watched since I began reviewing TNA pay per views, if you are going to go chickenshit heel, go all in on that chickenshit heel.

The tag championship match was fine from a workrate standpoint too and then what do they do? Kill all the heat that LAX have built up by announcing they will strip them of the titles on Impact? The fuck would you do that for? Where is the heat? Who came up with this idea? How does this further any storyline? If anything, I am sympathetic for LAX for being stripped of the titles! Things only get worse with the world championship, a rule that has never been brought up in years costs Sting the championship. Sting uses chairs, bats and thumbtacks but hitting the referee is what causes a DQ? If we believe the narrative that the referee did not want to disqualify Sting because Sting would lose his title, why wouldn’t the referee call off the match after Sting punched him? Couldn’t the match have been thrown out as a result rather than Sting being disqualified? I am reading far too deeply into this but that’s what happens when TNA annoys me to such a degree. Also, why in the name of God did Sting chase the championship only to lose it a month later? Thanks for reading and remember: There’s always another night!

TNA Bound For Glory 2006 Review

Image result for tna bound for glory 2006

Hello and welcome to the return of Seanomaniac Wrestling Reviews, the only wrestling review series on the internet that promises to never leave you but leaves you for Hollywood anyways! It’s TNA Bound For Glory 2006, the big show for Total Nonstop Action. The Icon Sting chases down Jeff Jarrett, The King Of The Mountain may have finally met his match in Sting while Styles and Daniels battle the devilish LAX for the tag team championships while we have a Monster’s Ball match along with the rest of the TNA regulars. Will they step it up on this night? At their Wrestlemania? Let’s get it on!

TNA X-Division Gauntlet Over The Top Battle Royal

Austin Starr and Sonjay Dutt begin the match, shoulder block by Starr. Dutt nails a headscissors, chops in the corner. Maverick Matt comes down to the ring next, Matt goes to work on Dutt. Starr and Matt come together, shoulder blocks and fist drops on Dutt. Pendulum elbow by Starr, clotheslines by Dutt. Jay Lethal is in at four, hiptoss into a dropkick. Lethal runs wild before an elbow from Starr, A1 comes down to the ring. The fans groan, poor A1 usually gets you cannot wrestle chants. Here comes Zach Gowan, of Smackdown fame. One-legged wrestler, Moonsault on Dutt.

Kazarian is number seven, poor guy is as bland at this stage in his career. Kaz and Matt eliminate Dutt first, poor Dutt deserves better. Number eight is Sirelda, someone more useless than A1. Kaz bitch slaps her, Sirelda destroys Kaz for his troubles. A1 takes out Sirelda, the irony is not lost on me. Shark Boy comes in next, Shark Boy runs wild with neckbreakers. Alex Shelley comes in, big crossbody by Shelley. D-Ray 3000 is here, apparently an old TNA favourite? Shark Boy and D-Ray team up, headbutts for everyone. Johnny Devine comes out next, Zach Gowan is stunned out of this match by Devine.

Everyone stumbles around punching one another, no attempts at eliminations. Primetime Elix Skipper comes out next, my favourite botch-ridden wrestler. Skipper slips off the top rope, I love this man! Short Sleeve Sampson is in, what is going on in TNA at this time? Norman Smiley is here, Smiley saves Sampson. The Wiggle comes out, Sampson is tossed out onto a referee. Petey Williams is the final entrant, the referee eliminates Norman Smiley and Elix Skipper. Canadian Destroyer on Lethal, Williams is dumped out by Shelley and Devine. Starr throws out Devine, we are down to three.

Starr, Shelley and Lethal. Starr elevates Shelley over, we are down to two. The match now ends in a pin-fall or submission, Lethal is dead from the destroyer. Starr takes his time, Lethal catches Starr with a Dragon Suplex for two. Lethal looks for his diving headbutt, Starr crotches Lethal, kick to the head and a Brainbuster for the finish.

The battle royal was fine, nothing special in terms of spot and action but there are two things that stick out about this match. First, TNA out of the Impact Zone is fantastic, this crowd is absolutely electric and they react to everything. Secondly: Austin Aries was a huge name in the indies by this point, reigning as ROH Champion, forming The Next Generation and stealing the show with the likes of Samoa Joe, CM Punk and Bryan Danielson. The fans love Austin Starr, a star is forming before their eyes.

Winner: Austin Starr over Jay Lethal via Starbuster!

Team 3D vs AMW vs The Naturals vs The James Gang

Four teams who are out of the championship picture, looking for a chance to become champions for the first time or again depending on their situation. Brother Ray starts smacking down every heel in sight, uranage slams and clotheslines. BG James and Brother Ray do their punch spots on the heels. The two turn on one another, Devon and Kip James go at it. Double knockdown, everyone is out on the floor.

AMW attacks The Naturals, Storm is stuck in the tree of woe. Tower of Doom spot, TNA chants everywhere. Knee drop by BG James misses, Catatonic is blocked. Pump Handle Drop on Harris, lariat by Stevens on BG James. Eye of The Storm by Storm, Devon nails Saving Grace. Jumping DDT by Douglas, Bubba Bomb by Brother Ray. Kip James nails The Famouser. Stevens almost steals the pin on Brother Ray, Brother Devon is crotched on the top rope. Dudley Death Device on Stevens, Douglas is caught for a headbutt from Brother Devon.

Team 3D want tables, Stevens nails a dropkick knocking down Team 3D. The Natural Disaster connects on Devon for two and a half, Douglas knees Stevens by mistake and The 3D spells the end of this match.

Not much of a match, I enjoyed the feud that was going between Team 3D and The James Gang, playing off their history in the WWF and how in their one match, The Dudleys cheated to win. AMW were fantastic with Styles and Daniels but it seems they have nothing to work with now, maybe it is time for a split just like Team Canada. This match was just there, filled the spot on the card, nothing more and nothing less.

Winners: Team 3D over Everyone Else via 3D!

(Monster’s Ball Match) Samoa Joe vs Abyss vs Brother Runt vs Raven

Not a fan for one reason: This is one hell of a waste of Samoa Joe who is undefeated and had beaten the champion Jarrett twice, this seems thrown together for Joe which annoys me. Raven and Runt work together at first, keeping out Joe and beating down Abyss. Joe runs wild on Raven and Runt, facewash for Raven. Abyss chokeslams Joe out of nowhere, Abyss chokes Joe. Runt and Raven attack Abyss again, double low blow. Abyss clotheslines Raven and flapjacks Runt. Abyss tosses Runt into the crowd, Raven clotheslines Abyss to the floor. Plancha by Raven connects, Joe launches himself onto everyone.

Raven and Joe battle up the ramp, Raven uses his mask to batter Joe. Abyss drags Runt up the ramp, Raven smacks Joe with the mask off the ramp and through the table. Runt is scaling the stage, Abyss gives chase. Abyss chokeslams Runt off the stage onto a platform below. Cameraman misses Abyss dive onto Runt, the platform which has been described as concrete like has folded under the weight of Abyss. Abyss gets two in the ring, Raven saves the match.

Hip splash by Abyss for two, shock treatment is prevented by Joe. Rights and lefts by Joe to Abyss and Raven, Raven is dropped to the outside. Inverted atomic drop and high kick by Joe on Abyss, Joe misses his senton. Joe kicks Abyss in the shin, chops by Joe. Massive slap by Joe, Abyss is powerslammed on the chair with Raven saving the match again. Raven drop toeholds Joe to the floor, Abyss wants his thumbtacks. Jake Roberts rows with Raven for no reason, Raven and Roberts are attacked by Abyss.

Abyss opens his bag, it is a bag of thumbtacks. Joe lowbridges Raven, Abyss eats a massive forearm. Joe sentons Abyss’ face into the tacks, Abyss cries out in pain. Coquina Clutch by Joe, Raven saves the match again with a chair this time. Roberts DDTs Raven because fuck it, Muscle Buster by Joe on Raven for the win.

There was some good action in this match, Runt falling from the stage and Joe’s senton onto Abyss were highlights, I thought it was your typical Abyss match with it just building to Abyss eating shit on the tacks. A waste of Joe though, the man is the hottest in the company and the championship should be around his waist and not Jarrett.

Winner: Samoa Joe over Everyone Else via Muscle Buster!

(Loser Gets Fired Match) Eric Young vs Larry Zbyszko

So, Eric Young was in constant fear of being fired and now Young will be fired if he loses this match. Zbyszko was a constant annoyance for any babyface especially Raven due to his heelish antics and favouring of the likes of Jarrett and AMW. They stall for an eternity, they trade holds like the abdominal stretch. The referee is down already, Zbyszko pulls out brass knuckles. Young ducks, low blow by Eric Young. Young picks up the brass knuckles and Zbyszko is waffled in the face and just like that, Zbyszko is fired. Meh, Bleh, DUD!

Winner: Eric Young over Larry Zbyszko via Brass Knuckles!

(TNA X-Division Championship Match) Chris Sabin vs Senshi ©

These two stunk up the joint last time and why? Because some moron decided to involve Jackass and a blow-up doll, the crowd shat all over it as did I. Disgraceful stuff from the x-division. Sabin and Senshi start off trading pins, Sabin is the aggressor with big kicks before Senshi nails a kick to the back of the head. Shining elbow for a two, chops by Senshi. Sabin sells accordingly, snapmare into a shining elbow for two. Arm-bar from Senshi, Sabin battles back to his feet trading shots with Senshi. Irish whip to the turnbuckle, Senshi kicks down Sabin. Two for Senshi, snapmare into a bodyscissors.

Another chop war, Sabin uses forearms for his advantage. Kicks by Senshi, one to the back of the head. Two for Senshi, Sabin is left dangling on the apron before a massive dropkick by Sabin. The comeback is on, chops by Sabin. Senshi is tossed to the floor, Sabin nails a tope suicida. Senshi smacks off the guard rail, sole butt and enzuigiri by Sabin. Hesitation dropkick for two, cradle shock is countered for a dragon sleeper. Sabin backs Senshi into the corner, dropkick by Sabin. Springboard DDT by Sabin for two, top rope hurricanrana is countered as Senshi rolls through and nails a double stomp for two.

Senshi nails a springboard kick to the head for two, Sabin lays down clutching his face. The crowd is rallying behind Sabin, Senshi misses a corner clothesline. Yakuza Kick by Sabin in the corner, cradle shock attempt. Elbows and Ki Crusher is blocked, Cradle Shock plants Senshi for two. Senshi is placed on the top rope, top rope cradle shock is the idea. Senshi kicks out, massive kicks to the chest. John Wu dropkick, Warrior’s Way connects big time. 1…2.. Sabin places his foot on the ropes. Dragon sleeper, Sabin eats elbows but counters for a small package for the win.

While the action was exciting and entertaining from beginning to end, I did not feel the story they were trying to tell. This was about Sabin’s redemption, I did not feel Sabin struggled throughout this match, I never felt it for a second. Senshi never dominated, Senshi did not push Sabin to his limits. It was just too back and forth for that kind of story and I did not feel Sabin overcame the unstoppable Senshi.

Winner: Chris Sabin over Senshi via Small Package!

(8 Mile Street Fight Match) Christian Cage vs Rhino

Christian turned heel out of nowhere really, feuding with Rhino instead of facing the wrath of Sting, Rhino has a concussion going into this match so this brawl starts out on the street. Rhino batters Christian, they come back to the arena. Rhino is on a Zamboni, Christian is stuck on top of the Zamboni. Christian is punched off the Zamboni, Christian rakes the eyes and uses a street lamp to attack Rhino. Rhino dodges and wallops Christian, Rhino throws all sorts of weapons into the ring, Christian grabs a chair and waffles Rhino in the face. The Gore has failed, Rhino is not in good shape now.

Crowd brawling time, we come back ringside. Rhino sets up a table by ringside, Christian rakes the back. Belly to belly suplex by Rhino, Rhino sets up a table in the corner. Christian escapes a slam with a roll-up, two for Christian. 8 Mile road sign to the head of Rhino, Rhino has donned that crimson mask with the blood spilling down his face. Right hands to the head of Rhino, Rhino eats the ladder to the ribs. Unprettier in the middle of the ring for two, really wasted the move there. Ladder to the face of Rhino, ladder tossed onto Rhino. Christian has a straight-jacket, Rhino is defenceless. Conchairto, Rhino rolls out of the way, big boots by Rhino. Headbutt to the groin, Rhino asks the referee to save him.

Rhino is saved, Rhino has Christian by the apron. The two are on the apron, Rhino smacks Christian back into the ring.  Very ugly way of getting to the spot but eventually, we get Rhino Driver through the ringside table. Rhino misses the gore through the table as Christian side-steps Rhino. Two for Christian, Unprettier on the leftovers of the table, two for Christian. Rhino is buried under a tonne of tables, ladders and chairs. Christian smacks his creation with Rhino buried underneath, the fans chair and erupt as Rhino is not moving.

Nope, not for me. Rhino kicking out of two Unprettiers? Rhino of all people kicking out of two? Sloppy in parts, especially in the table piledriver spot. But the monster’s ball was more brutal and to have two hardcore matches on one show just does not work for me especially when they perform like that, I expected more hatred but it only came out in that final spot.

Winner: Christian Cage over Rhino via Conchairto!

(NWA/TNA Tag Team Championship Steel Cage Match) AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels © vs LAX W/ Konnan

We start off hot with everyone brawling, Homicide eats a backbreaker. Daniels and Styles batter Hernandez, drop toehold and knee drop. Leaping leg lariat by Daniels, Hernandez out-powers Styles and tags in Homicide. Styles nails his signature dropkick, tag to Daniels. Back drop and lariat combination for two, tag to Styles. Hair-slam by Homicide, backbreaker by Styles for two. Homicide sends Styles into the cage, in comes Hernandez. Styles is tossed hard into the cage, Daniels eats a boot and clothesline from LAX.

Exploder suplex by Homicide on Daniels, electric chair drop and elbow by LAX for two. Chinlock by Homicide, belly to belly suplex and tag to Hernandez. Homicide is handed a weapon by Konnan, Daniels is stabbed in the head by Homicide. Daniels is bleeding everywhere, snapmare and tag to Hernandez. Hernandez chokes Daniels, Styles saves Daniels after a powerbomb. Daniels has tequila spat in his eyes and poured on his wound, Homicide wants a cutter off the top rope but Daniels nails a super hiptoss from the top rope. Styles receives the tag, springboard reverse DDT, springboard clothesline on Hernandez.

Clotheslines by the champions, back drop for Homicide. Hernandez is flapjacked into the cage, high and low combination by the champions. Knee to Hernandez, dropkick by Styles too. Hernandez is scraped off the cage, Pele kick on Homicide. Fork to the eye of Homicide, Styles rakes at Homicide’s head. Forearm by Daniels, Homicide takes out Styles. Styles comes back with a Pele kick to Hernandez. Styles begins to climb the cage, Homicide and Styles are on top of that cage. Daniels comes up too, tower of doom but Styles is still in the air. Styles crossbodies onto Hernandez, massive spot.

1…2.. Homicide saves the match. Cutter by Homicide, Death Valley Driver by Daniels on Homicide, Hernandez belly to belly suplexes Daniels. Daniels is down, Hernandez is on top of the cage and misses his splash. Daniels cannot nail angel’s wings on Hernandez, Homicide has a coat-hanger from Konnan, Daniels is being choked out. Konnan is helping to choke Daniels, Styles fights back but it is two on one. Hernandex slaughters Styles with a clothesline, Gringo Killer on Styles for the win.

This was balls to the walls kick-ass type of match from some excellent workers. It is matches like this that make me sad for Daniels being overlooked for so long, Daniels is a tremendous performer and deserved so much more from the wrestling business. Homicide and Styles are freaks in the ring, Hernandez does his part as the big power man and Konnan on the microphone is money, the man is so easy to hate especially with the controversial uncomfortable racist remarks. Loved the use of the fork and the blood, cage matches need that kind of violence and the high-spots were all tremendous with each dive getting crazier and becoming more awesome, great match.

Winners: LAX over Styles & Daniels via Gringo Killer!

(TNA/NWA World Heavyweight Championship Match) Sting vs Jeff Jarrett © (Career vs Title Match)

So, Sting came back to TNA but things were not as Sting wanted to be in TNA as Sting could not capture the gold and rid himself of Jeff Jarrett. As well as that, we have seen Sting fail against Jarrett which annoys me for the simple reason that they sacrificed Joe for Sting’s big moment yet they did this match already which was bullshit for that heel turn of Christian. Anyways, once again we have Jarrett as the big nasty heel who has battered everyone and it is time for Jarrett to pay.

Jarrett hiptosses and armdrags Sting with ease, Jarrett feels that there is only one man showing up tonight. Knee by Jarrett, shoulder blocks by Jarrett. Sting blocks Jarrett before Jarrett nails another hiptoss. Sting looks a little shaken, side headlock by Sting. Right hand by Jarrett, dropkick by Jarrett. Sting rolls to the floor, the weight of placing his career on the line is affecting Sting big time. Jarrett spits on Sting, Sting finally comes into the match. Powerbomb and that’s a crazy first move to hit in a match, dropped across the top rope and clothesline to the floor.

Brawling on the floor, Jarrett meets the guard rail. Jarrett sends Sting into the guard rail, Angle takes a chair from Jarrett. Suplex on the ramp by Sting, DDT by Jarrett on Sting as Angle is cracked with a chair. Sting is dropped on the guard rail, big sleeper from Jarrett. Botch from the two veterans as we have mid-ring collision. Angle nails an Olympic Slam as the referee was going to end the match with a double count-out. Sting and Jarrett brawl, inverted atomic drop and clotheslines.

Stinger Splash connects, Scorpion Death Drop for two. Sting is shocked by Jarrett surviving the drop, The Stroke out of nowhere for two. Tombstone piledriver by Sting for two, Sting climbs to the top rope. Low blow by Jarrett, Jarrett wants Super Stroke, Sting blocks and tosses Jarrett into the middle of the ring. Sting tries a splash, Jarrett avoids it with double knees. Figure Four, Jarrett applies the angle lock to mess with Angle. Sting shoves off Jarrett, Sting has his bat. Jarrett has his guitar, Sting no-sells the guitar. Scorpion Death Lock and Sting is champion.

Fair play to TNA for sticking to their guns on crowing Sting as champion, the crowd were not loud for a lot of this match, I won’t lie the poor fuckers had seen Jarrett main event nonstop for at least 4 years and I’d be sick of it too. I liked the way the match started with Sting doubting himself but it slipped after that, had referee bumps and Angle was involved a lot of it. The best part of this match is the last twenty seconds, Jarrett nails the guitar and Sting no-sells, absolutely ridiculous but I loved it as did the fans.

Winner: Sting over Jeff Jarrett via Scorpion Death Lock!

That was TNA’s Bound For Glory 2006, a solid show from TNA but was it worthy of being their Wrestlemania? I think not and I shall explain in just a moment but I must give credit where credit is due, I breezed through this pay per view. There were no points where I glanced away, wished I was doing something better or begged for something to end, everything went at a nice steady pace with no match overstaying its welcome. The action was solid for the most part with a few matches falling flat at times. The main event was ok but nothing memorable albeit those last twenty seconds, Samoa Joe was wasted in a decent hardcore match, Christian vs Rhino lacked the heat it needed for such an intense street fight, Sabin did not sell me on the story of the babyface overcoming the unstoppable heel that was Senshi and most other matches were just there to fill space. The cage match was awesome though and if you need a reason to see this pay per view, it is the cage match. Thanks for your continued support and thanks for reading! Remember: There’s always another night!
